Guests appreciate the cottage's prime location near Yarmouth harbour, with easy access to shops, bus services, and walking paths. The property offers a quiet setting, a spacious family home with a sunny conservatory, and a welcoming host. Some concerns were raised about cleanliness and maintenance, but the overall experience was enjoyed, especially for those seeking a car-free holiday.
Reviews indicate a need for a deeper clean, with specific mentions of windows and general grubbiness. However, not all reviews mention cleanliness issues, suggesting experiences may vary.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to Yarmouth harbour, shops, and bus services, as well as being ideal for walkers and offering a quiet environment.
The property is described as comfortable and well-equipped, with good quality bed linen and towels. However, some guests found the beds uncomfortable, affecting the score.
Facilities are mixed, with a well-equipped kitchen and two showers, but only one shower is usable at a time, and there are maintenance issues like a loose kitchen light and non-opening conservatory windows.
The host's thoughtfulness is noted with a warm welcome and surprises like fresh milk and cakes. However, such gestures are not guaranteed for every stay.
A pleasant, detached house in the southern part of the coastal town of Yarmouth, on the Isle of Wight. Built originally around 1950, the house is situated in a quiet cul de sac. From upstairs there are views to the downs in the distance, and the river Yar is a couple of minutes walk away. Entering the property, you will be greeted by a warm and welcoming interior, furnished to a lovely standard and complemented with a light décor, making this an ideal spot for five adults and one child to regroup after a day of exploring the West Wight. Get comfortable within the sitting/dining room, complete with television and large sofa. Double doors lead into a spacious conservatory where the little ones can stay occupied, or the grownups can chill out with a refreshing beverage. The light and airy kitchen offers a host of appliances including an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher. Next to the kitchen is a utility area with a washing machine, and there is a shower room and WC. As the evening comes to a close, head upstairs to find the bedrooms, including the master with king-size bed, and a twin bed room. There is a cosy third bedroom, with a single bed and a toddler's bed (which has a four feet six inch mattress, 140 cm). In the morning, after a good night's sleep take a hot cup of tea outside to the lawned garden and get lost in a good read whilst the sun rises and you plan the day ahead. Yarmouth happens to be the second smallest town in England and has a long, rich history stretching back for more than 800 years. It is a good location for traditional eateries if you don’t fancy cooking one evening, and there is an interesting selection of shops. Stroll through the town square, walk along the elegant timber Pier, or visit the 16th century Yarmouth Castle, which was built by King Henry VIII to successfully prevent any further attacks by the French. Moored in the harbour, there is an ever changing assembly of beautiful yachts and other craft, and along the former railway line next to the river Yar, there are pleasant walking and cycling opportunities. For a simple but memorable experience, try watching the sunset across the calm river estuary. If you fancy some time on the sands, head to Compton Bay, one of the island’s most stunning beaches, where you can discover the odd dinosaur print, and at low tide there are the remains of a genuine shipwreck. 6 Heytesbury Road is an ideal base for enjoying all that the Isle of Wight has to offer.
Yarmouth is a lovely town and civil parish nestled on the Isle of Wight, on the south coast of England. It is home to a selection of pubs, restaurants, shops and supermarkets for your amenities. Yarmouth also offers a fantastic pier and sailing club jetty which is a popular spot for crabbing.
