Reach Court Farm comprises of five quaint and comfortable holiday cottages (refs W44361, W44362, W44363, W44364 and W44365), located in a tranquil valley a few hundred yards from the famous White Cliffs of Dover. Steeped in history, Reach Court Farm was one of the only working farms during World War II. The owner at the time was given control of a vast farming area by the War Department as he stayed and kept the farm working. This is the nearest farm in England to France, known during the war as ‘Front Line Farm’, and is just a short walk from the picturesque beach and local village of St. Margaret’s Bay. A private path leads to the White Cliffs where National Trust walks provide amazing views across the English Channel.
This is a great holiday location for groups of friends, families and couples to explore all that Kent has to offer. There are many walking tracks around the farm, either through the wooded valley, along the cliff tops or down into the beautiful bay itself. Look out for pieces of local history scattered around the countryside, you may find old gun placements, bunkers and magazines from the Second World War.
Attractions in Kent include the famous city of Canterbury, boasting a stunning cathedral, dominant city walls, boutique shops, bars and restaurants. Take a ferry trip over to France from Dover to Calais or by train from Ashford through the Channel Tunnel, and enjoy sightseeing. Dover Castle sits proudly overlooking the town and is well worth a visit. Known as the ’Key to England,’ the castle boasts 2000 years of history and includes a Roman lighthouse, Saxon church and a Norman keep. Travel up the coast to the fishing town of Deal and sample fish and chips on the promenade or enjoy a stroll at Viking Bay in Broadstairs. Beach 1½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
