Guests find the property very comfortable, with a great shower, comfortable bed and sofa, and a cosy atmosphere. The oak-framed loft and the peaceful environment contribute to the overall comfort of the stay.
The facilities are generally well-received, with mentions of great facilities and a nice garden. However, some guests found the hob, combination oven, and TV complicated to use, which suggests a slight deduction in the score for ease of use.
The hosts are frequently mentioned for their thoughtfulness, particularly regarding the welcome pack containing homemade bread, jam, chocolate, and drinks. While these gifts are warmly appreciated, it should be noted that such offerings are a gracious gesture and may not be guaranteed for every stay.

The property is set in a rural location, with the nearest shop a couple of miles away. Due to the location, there is no immediate public transport nearby. Great local pubs and restaurants can be found in Wallingford for snacks and evening meals - opening times vary and Sunday evenings can be tricky if you are looking to dine out. The area has more than just countryside walking to inspire you with village links to Geoffrey Chaucer. Other places of interest nearby include the picturesque town of Henley-on-Thames, known most of the world over for its Royal Regatta held in the first week of July and its festivals running throughout the summer. Other places to visit include Greys Court, Nuffield Place, and Basildon Park, all National Trust properties. Harcourt Arboretum, the Earth Trust Centre, the Aston Martin Heritage Trust Museum and Wittenham Clumps, for stunning panoramic views of south Oxfordshire. Plenty of local golf courses in the area for golf enthusiasts and if trains are of interest, there is a large collection of steam locomotives at Didcot Railway Centre where you can also ride on the 1930’s trains. You’ll be spoilt for choice!

We are in a rural spot so a car, a bicycle or another mode of transport is essential. Substantial outdoor shoes and clothing are advised in case of wet weather. There are no laundry facilities on-site or nearby, so the property is not suitable for stays beyond 1 to 2 weeks. Please note there is no facility to charge an electric car.

We had a wonderful short break at Shepherd's Loft. We were greeted by Sue on arrival and from the moment we set foot inside the property we felt at home. Clean, cosy and comfortable with thoughtful touches throughout. Perfectly situated for travelling around the area, yet set in a quiet rural setting with red kites circling overhead and the hooting of an owl each evening! We have already booked to return again next year.

This property proved to be perfect for us It had all we required.Made us reevaluate what we have booked in the past.It was comfortable and in an area between Oxford and Reading which allowed us to do many nearby walks either around the local area or along the River Thames and to visit local Nt properties. Twenty minutes or so into Reading via Henley was easy enough as visiting family was the reason to book this property in the first.Welcome pack on arrival a nice bonus!!
