This diverse, south Hampshire village is located on the eastern shores of Southampton Water, beside the Royal Victoria Country Park. The village takes its name from the 13th century Cistercian monastery there, its well-preserved ruins still remaining today. The heart of the village retains some of its traditional charm and is proud of its waterside heritage, with ample opportunities for sailing in the nearby village of Hamble-le-Rice. Nearby, The Royal Victoria Country Park was the site of The Royal Victoria Hospital, the first purpose-built military hospital.
