About this property

Characterful tin miner’s cottage close to Porthleven and some beautiful beaches. The cottage is located in the quiet village of Ashton, just over a mile from the south coast with its scenic walks and sandy coves. Full of character, Driftwood Cottage boasts exposed granite walls and beamed ceilings, with calming neutral tones throughout; the perfect country cottage. From the front garden, step through the handy porch into the inviting sitting room, where a cosy wood burning stove creates a warming snug during winter months. The country-style dining room leads up into the small but perfectly formed kitchen, where a door allows the Cornish sunshine to stream into the cottage on fine days.

Upstairs, there are two restful and well-presented bedrooms; one of which enjoys distant sea glimpses. The enclosed rear west-facing garden offers a delightful place to unwind, perfect for summer barbecues or a read of the morning papers. The village of Ashton is small and friendly, with a lovely, quaint family-run pub -The Lion and Lamb - just a short stroll from the cottage. Well positioned for exploring the south coast, guests of Driftwood Cottage will find plenty of picturesque rambles close by, and the much-loved harbour town of Porthleven is just a short drive away. Holidays here are spent discovering the coast, relaxing on sandy beaches and trying out the local fayre in the area's charming inns and highly-acclaimed restaurants.

Porthleven is one of south west Cornwall’s hidden coastal gems, located near Helston famous for its annual Flora Dance Festival. Situated between Lizard Point and Land’s End, Porthleven retains the feel of a traditional Cornish fishing village, enjoying uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful Cornish coastline. The iconic clock tower sits on the harbour entrance and the pubs, shops, cafés and restaurants cluster around the historic picturesque inner harbour, where there is plenty of boating and marine activity.

! Only real downside to the property was the wifi connection. Everything else was great and a credit to te owner and the housekeeper.
