This traditional cottage, next door to the iconic cliff top Church at St Gennys (don’t worry, no chimes!) offers a proper cottage holiday in Cornwall. Nothing can quite compare to staying so close to the coastal path which is just a 5-minute walk from the cottage, with majestic views made even more spectacular by the height of the cliffs in this part of Cornwall. There is also a footpath just yards from the cottage which takes you on a beautiful 15-minute walk down to the beach at Crackington Haven. If you prefer to drive to the beach, it takes just 5-minutes. The Owner, who lives nearby, organises nature conservation walks across the dramatic National Trust coastline surrounding the cottage.

This light, atmospheric cottage has a small garden with lawn to the rear with superb views of the sea and rugged, unspoilt cliffs to Widemouth Bay. Inside there is a lovely open plan living space with traditional slate floor, wooden beamed ceiling, a large rug, lovely 3-piece suite and open fire. An oak staircase leads up to a spacious landing which has panoramic views over neighbouring farmland. Both bedrooms, one double and one twin, have fantastic views and the family bathroom completes the proeprty.

The cottage is located a mile from Crackington Haven, which is included in the best surfing beaches in England and was recommended by the Marine Conservation Society in its Good Beach Guide. The scenery in the beach area of the surrounding majestic cliffs is almost unrivalled. At high tide, the beach is a mass of quartz-veined pebbles and large boulders but at low tide, it reveals an expanse of sand and many rock pools. Only the road separates the sea from a couple of beach shops, two superb beach cafés and a public house with a restaurant and fantastic terrace. The cottage is located in the parish of St. Gennys, which prides itself on the excellence of its public paths with the National Trust owning most of the cliff and adjacent farmland. Beach 1 mile.

Barton cottage is situated in a quiet relaxing spot. Within easy access to nearby Boscastle, Bude Tintergel Clovelly, Padstow - lovely dog friendly beach at Black Rock and found Crackington beach, walking the dog after 6 on the wet sand was a joy. We really enjoyed our stay, cleanliness exceptional.

We loved Barton Cottage. It’s a bit old fashioned which you can see from the photos but it’s very comfortable and beautifully clean which not all dog friendly cottages are. The location is heavenly, so quiet and peaceful. It’s very close to our two favourite places in Cornwall, Bude and Boscastle with lots of other places to visit not far away and very close to the south coast path. Plenty of parking and a great enclosed back and front garden which is a lovely sun trap. The owner is very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We would definitely love to go back.
