Some guests noted dated decor and non-enclosed gardens, but the overall experience is positive with many considering a return visit.
Most guests found the cottage to be very clean, with only a few isolated comments about specific cleanliness issues such as a 'wet dog' smell and dirty kitchen equipment. The predominance of positive remarks suggests a high level of cleanliness overall.
The cottage's location is frequently praised for its quiet surroundings, proximity to Bude and beaches, and suitability for exploring Cornwall and North Devon. The positive feedback indicates a high satisfaction with the location.
Guests generally found the cottage comfortable and well-equipped, with some noting the beds were comfy and the property felt like a home from home. However, there were a few comments about uncomfortable beds and dated decor, which slightly lowers the score.

Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited you will want to come back to time and time again. Bude has something for everyone, great beaches for relaxing, and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide and cafes to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round, and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the North Cornwall coastal path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area and Heritage Centre at Bude Castle. Within a short drive are the remains of a huge iron age hill fort at Warbstow Bury, from where panoramic views can be seen. For days out, take the coast road north to see the lonely lighthouse above the sea at Hartland Point or walk or ride a donkey down the steep and cobbled village street (no cars allowed) of beautiful Clovelly to the harbour and the pub far below. It was a little sad this time to see that the cottage was not as homely as our last visit and felt it should not be listed as a four star any longer as looking dated with need of some TLC replacements required ie fridge, sofa and flooring. Our only other comment/question which we would like to address to Sykes is now that covid is over why is the time entering the cottages getting pushed out ?? But the leaving time still remains the same ⦠when we first used Sykes arrival was 12pm onwards now it is 5pm !!! Please can you confirm why this is ?

The cottage inside was tired looking. The fridge freezer had rust patches on the front of it. Storage heater in main bedroom was hanging off the wall. Carpet was heavily stained and dirty. Had to hoover as soon as we got there. Moved the settee and found rubbish underneath it. Moved one of the single beds and found chewed gum stuck to the wall. Outside there were cigarette butts littered around. Toilet smell in main bathroom was overwhelming. The whole place needs revamping and was not worth the money we paid. Would not use this cottage again.
