You will be warmly welcomed to this charming, intimate and ‘dinky’ barn conversion, with original wooden beams, and natural air conditioning via the old stable door. Once through the old wooden stable door you instantly appreciate the serenity away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Perfect for a couple, the single room comprises a wonderfully comfortable kingsized bed, overlooking the grounds through patio doors.
Located high up in the Tamar Valley, The Tamar Orchard barn is the ideal rural retreat to enjoy the ‘horticultural treasure trove gardens of Sandhill House, with its formal water garden, summer house and flower meadows overlooking the truly, stunning but ’hidden’ Tamar Valley. Views of the world-renowned Dartmoor National Park entice you to explore, beyond your ‘sanctuary’.
Set in the heart of Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Heritage site, Gunnislake’s very own railway station, is just at the end of the carriage drive. As one of the three scenic railway lines in Cornwall, the picturesque Tamar Valley line (dog friendly) offers breath-taking views all the way to the historic, naval city of Plymouth, with its huge range of restaurants on the Elizabethan Barbican, The National Marine Aquarium, galleries and shops. The ancient market town of Tavistock, the home of Sir Francis Drake and the National Trust owned Cotehele House and Gardens are both just 4 miles away, whilst the fishing village of Looe with harbour, narrow streets and beach is just 20 miles away. The riverside village of Calstock, which is just 2 miles away has cruising boats (dog friendly) taking you down the idyllic, unspoilt Tamar River, to Plymouth Harbour, in the summer months.
We are very lucky to have several local pubs, all of which are dog friendly, and offer good food and even better ales!

Just lovely! From the warm welcome by Mary and Andrew, to the lovely peaceful cottage and grounds. There was everything we could possibly need. The dogs loved the secure back garden and my hubby particularly loved the bed! It was so comfortable it was a struggle to get him out on a morning!A folder had also been prepared to cover all aspects of the equipment in the property, local pubs and walks, and ideas of where to visit whilst in the area. Really well thought out.Would absolutely visit again and highly recommend a stay to anyone thinking of visiting the area.
