Churchtown and Lanherne Cottages are situated right in the heart of Crantock, a quaint coastal village, just 3 miles from Newquay. Crantock is steeped in 'olde worlde' Cornish charm. With its large, dog friendly beach just a five minute walk from the cottages, we are the perfect destination for anyone wanting their own little Cornish Haven for a week..... or two.

Both cottages are dog friendly, we accept up to two well behaved dogs per cottage for a small additional charge. Both cottages have one allocated parking space each (rare in the centre of Crantock), and Wi-Fi is available. Cots and high chairs are also available on request.

Churchtown Cottage..... comprises of a hall/entrance with kitchen diner off to the left. This is equipped with the usual, oven/grill, fridge and separate freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster. To the right of the hall is the lounge area with comfy corner sofa, digital TV and rustic fireplace. Both downstairs rooms have windows overlooking the sunny cottage garden. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, one with adult size bunks. The bathroom has toilet, basin, bath/shower and heated towel rail. Again all upstairs rooms overlook the garden.

This cottage has a rustic coastal cottage feel, light and airy with lots of seaside inspired colours and decorations. The cottage can be heated if required using easily controlled modern electric wall radiators.

The south facing sheltered cottage garden is fully enclosed so perfect for children/dogs. The sunny patio houses a large picnic bench and a couple of garden chairs. There is a lawned area and at the bottom we now have a bird feeding station, which guests are welcome to fill up, watch and wait. Many have been rewarded by seeing an amazing variety of birds visit them during their stay..

Lanherne Cottage..... comprises of two ground floor rooms. A well equipped kitchen/diner with the usual oven/grill, fridge and separate freezer, microwave, dishwasher, toaster and kettle, with a step down to a large dining table to seat 6. The spacious comfortable lounge has digital TV and overlooks the pretty quaint cottage garden. Both rooms boast large open fireplaces with their old cloam ovens still in place. The lounge has a log burner fitted for those cosy winter evenings in. The cottage can also be heated with central heating.

Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, one double, one with adult bunks and a twin bedded room, which has an en-suite attached. The large bathroom houses a toilet, basin, bath/shower.

The mainly lawned and fairly private garden is well enclosed with an old stone wall to one side and a fence to the left. There is a picnic bench on the slated area in front of the cottage and a small bench for basking in the sunshine. Both cottage gardens are warm and sheltered so perfect for those breezy Cornish days when the wind is too much to sit on the beach comfortably but you still need a little 'vitamin D' in your life!

Lanherne Cottage has a couple of little outhouses through the kitchen door at the back. One houses a washer/dryer and the other can be used as a store for beach gear. There are often items left behind in there by previous guests for current guests to make use of.

Crantock is a small little village but has lots to keep visitors occupied. There is a village shop/post office which sells lots of locally made food and crafts. The Cosy Nook Tea Garden is a beautiful little café selling breakfast, light lunches and amazing ice cream sundaes. They also have a very popular little art gallery 'Art at the Nook' selling the work of local artists. During the season, 'The Hevlas' is another café/restaurant (only open at weekends), but sells an interesting selection of meals using locally sourced/foraged/caught produce. There are two pubs in the heart of the village, The Old Albion and Cornishman. The Albion has become a popular place for dinner and Sunday lunches of late. There is now a surf hire place up at Pirates Perch on Gustory Road, and a kayak/SUP etc hire on Beach Road. Down at the beach the 'Big Green Surf School' offer surf, SUP and kayak lessons/sessions with qualified instructors in a safe environment. The lifeguarded beach (in the season only) now boasts a lovely coffee/snack truck, an ice cream hut and across the river (via the bridge or ferry - again seasonal) and up a fair few steps.... you will be rewarded by amazing views and the hospitality of the Fern Pit Café, a favourite with the locals and real Cornish gem. For an evening walk and dinner, head up the road from Crantock to West Pentire where you will find the Bowgie Inn Pub and C-Bay café/restaurant. Both take advantage of their amazing views over Crantock Beach. Continue round West Pentire headland and you will come across Polly Joke, a beautiful, quiet little beach, with no facilities or lifeguard, but well worth a visit.

And that is just Crantock, Newquay is round the corner (walkable for some) or drive or take a bus, and in this seaside town, made famous for its surfing, there are cafe's, restaurants, bars, shops, and many more beautiful beaches to explore.

The beauty of staying in Crantock, is you have the peace of staying in a quiet coastal village, but have Newquay right round the corner if you want something a bit more upbeat for a day or evening out. Best of both worlds!
