The sloping hill down to the water’s edge gives nearly all of Portscatho uninterrupted wonderful breathtakingly stunning views of the Cornish coast. Benefiting from this high vantage point, you can see for miles upon miles along the ragged and stunning coastline. Enjoy a Cornish pint of ale in the local pub or a hot chocolate and slice of cake in the nearby café.

Adjoining Portscatho is the smaller village of Gerrans. Here can be found the very interesting Heritage Centre. Learn more about where gig racing came from and why it’s still so popular and why old farming methods are still used to this very day. Take the cliff path North out of Portscatho and in under twenty minutes you’ll be standing on the beautiful Porthcurnick beach. At low tide Porthcurnick has acres of flat sand perfect for games of cricket but you might have to wade a fair way to get a decent swim! It is a National Trust owned beach and toilet facilities are available. Further east still are Carne beach and Pendower beach which at low tide join to form an even bigger expanse of sand where dogs are allowed all year round.
