This delightful stone built cottage sits in a tiny hamlet just a short drive from the wonderful scenic Helford area and the town of Helston. With Cornish charm in spades, a tucked away location and features such as the traditional inglenook fireplace this cottage represents an opportunity to live the Cornish dream. Woodpecker Cottage has plenty of room for four guests with its lovely large sitting room complete with a beautiful inglenook fireplace and spacious kitchen on the ground floor. Upstairs are two really generous bedrooms, one double and one twin (which can be zip and linked to create a king size on request) Both bedrooms offer an en-suite shower room.
All rooms overlook the very pretty garden and the green fields beyond whilst immediately in front of the cottage is a private terrace. Supplies for your holiday can be collected in nearby villages: Gweek and Constantine, both of which are home to good pubs. Local town Helston has a number of supermarkets and all conveniences, while fabulous Falmouth is within a short drive for those after a more cosmopolitan day out.
Helston lies at the western gateway to the Lizard Peninsula, a large area of downland fringed by a beautiful and spectacular coastline. Helston is a pleasant busy market town famous for its Flora Day Festival and the many stories and legends about the "Furry Dance" are told in the fascinating Helston Folk Museum. Nearby is the Poldark Mine, one of the best underground experiences in the south west and which tells of the widespread mining heritage of this area. Nestled in a tranquil setting is the National Seal Sanctuary on the Helford River, where there is plenty of entertainment watching seals play and feed. If it is thrill rides that excites you, then Flambards theme park will keep you amused all day and also has excellent living history experiences. Further afield is the harbour town of Falmouth to the east and Land's End to the west. Helston is a wonderful holiday destination offering plenty of attractions for the whole family.

It is in a quiet location about 1.5 miles off the main road. The narrow Cornish lanes can be challenging and may not be for everyone, but it did not detract from the location. Everything you need is available, and Gillian is an excellent host. We appreciated the cream tea on arrival. Good base to explore this part of Cornwall, with the town of Helston only a few miles away.

Just saddened that this was to be our last stay due to owner retiring. She has always been the loveliest person to stay with and we will miss her and the cottage immensely

This cottage is in a lovely quiet rural setting well placed to explore the Lizard and further afield for the whole of West Cornwall. Our only concern was that the hot water was scalding hot and young children would definitely need to be supervised.
