Guests say

Wolf Rock Cottage receives high praise for its unique lighthouse charm, stunning location, and historical intrigue. Guests enjoy the well-equipped accommodation, comfortable furnishings, and the atmospheric experience, particularly the lookout tower. While some minor maintenance issues and the presence of a foghorn are noted, the overall sentiment is one of a memorable and recommendable stay.

The property is consistently described as clean and well-presented. One mention of debris under sofa cushions suggests room for improvement, but overall, the cleanliness is highly regarded.

The location is universally acclaimed for its beauty, coastal walks, and proximity to the village. The lighthouse setting provides stunning sea views and a unique experience, contributing to the high score.

Comfort is well-received with mentions of comfy beds and a warm property. However, some guests noted issues with seating in the tower and lounge, indicating slight room for enhancement.

Facilities are generally good, with a well-equipped kitchen and new bathrooms. However, there are several comments about inadequate kitchen utensils, poor quality frying pans, and non-functioning fans, suggesting the need for better maintenance.

Guests appreciate the welcome hamper, although there are mixed feelings about its quality. The provision of earplugs for the foghorn shows consideration. It should be noted that such gifts are a kind gesture and may vary.

About this property

In association with Trinity House, we are pleased to present Wolf Rock at Lizard Lighthouse. Located on the southern-most tip of mainland Britain, the six adjacent cottages of Lizard Lighthouse present guests with dazzling scenery and coastal walks right from the doorstep. Rare and beautiful flora and fauna make this cliff top location particularly special.

With its fabulous circular observation tower, Wolf Rock is a two-storey former lighthouse keepers' cottage with a spacious kitchen and dining area with plenty of modern units and fully equipped for preparing memorable holiday meals. The comfy sitting room has an inviting leather corner sofa and armchair surrounding the fireplace with an electric flame effect fire. The contemporary family bathroom is also located on the ground floor, with a bath and overhead rainfall shower. A ground floor twin bedroom enjoys its own en-suite shower room. Wolf Rock is the only cottage at Lizard Lighthouse with access to the unused West Tower. On the ground floor level, a second dining area is ideal for a more formal or celebratory meal, guests can climb the 32 stone spiral steps to the circular observation room with seating and an electric 'wood burning stove' effect fire for enjoying a stormy night and making the most of the magnificent sea views.

Upstairs two further bedrooms include a king-size and a twin room, ideal for families. Outside, the property enjoys its own enclosed courtyard and allocated parking.

Lizard Lighthouse is a fully working lighthouse, first established in 1619. The distinctive two white towers that it is known for today were built in 1751 by private entrepreneur Thomas Fonnereau, and first lit on 22 August of that year. Trinity House gained control of the lights in 1771 and continues to look after its operation to this day. It became electrified in 1924 and then fully automated in 1998. It has a 26 mile light range and an automatic 3 mile fog signal if conditions are misty.

The nearby Lizard Village provides shops, restaurants and a friendly pub only ¼ mile away. There are an abundance of other small seaside towns and beaches to explore including St Michael's Mount, St. Ives, Mousehold, Newlyn, Penzance and The Helford River.

Fantastic location very well presented and comfortable lighthouse cottage. Stormy weather made our stay even more dramatic and special with the cosy protection of the thick walls and very efficient heating. Watching the boiling sea as the rain lashed the windows. Fabulous.
