About this property

Rocket Cart House is a beautifully presented, tiny granite cottage situated in the southernly village of Lizard, Cornwall. Dating back to 1869, this little building used to store the cart and rocket lifesaving equipment for the lifeboat crew on the Lizard. Now a converted dwelling, it offers a romantic bolthole for couples wanting to explore South Cornwall. The craftsmanship of the interior should be appreciated, featuring exposed beams and stylish touches throughout, creating a heart-warming base to return to each evening. Get the woodburning stove fire up as you sink into the sumptuous velvet sofa, taking a moment to relax following a day of coastal rambles. The kitchen has a fantastic use of space, housing an electric combi-oven/microwave and induction hob, fridge, dishwasher and washer/dryer, ensuring you are fully catered for. Preparing a light dinner here will be no trouble however, a 3 minute walk down the lane or into the Village provides a multitude of choices ranging from fine dining with Atlantic views to delicious locally sourced takeaways. After dinner, look forward to curling up in the delightful bedroom, presented with stylish hanging storage baskets, a timber clad backwall and open beams into the roof space to view the stars. The en-suite shower room continues to exude style, featuring a slate floor, walk-in shower enclosure, basin, heated towel rail and WC. When the weathers nice, throw open the patio doors and access the pretty courtyard, the perfect spot for a well-deserved gin and tonic or local Lizard Ale. Wander into the centre of the village, home to a selection of eateries and pubs, as well as a farmer's shop and Deli where you can pick up the essentials. Famed for being the most southerly point of the British mainland, the Lizard Peninsula offers a beautiful coastline filled with pretty coves, little shipwrecks and gorgeous bays and beaches. It also has one of the UK’s warmest climates, meaning you’ll have even more opportunity to enjoy sunshine long coastal walks and beach days, particularly at Kynance Cove, where you can see one of the most photographed and painted locations in Cornwall. If exploration takes you further afield, visit the iconic Poldark Mine, one of the best underground experiences in the south west, or spend an afternoon wandering the streets of Falmouth, home to many unique shops and fascination attractions and a rich maritime history. Surrounded by glorious scenery, Rocket Cart House promises to be an excellent base for touring Cornwall, walking the South west Path and bird watching.

Lizard is a tiny village resting on the Lizard Peninsula, the most southernly point in mainland England. There is a village green, a few shops, a pub and cafés, along with the Lizard Lighthouse, the oldest mainland light in Cornwall. The surrounding area offers many secluded bays and beaches, cliff top walks and charming coastal villages. Nearby Mullion and Helston offer great attractions and amenities, ensuring visitors are fully catered for.

That said, it is really well thought out in terms of how the space has been used. The sofa and the bed were very comfortable. The location is perfect for quick and easy access to the coastal path, but also just a couple of minutes walk into Lizard. The lane on which it is located is very quiet. We loved our week staying here and have marked it as a favourite if we want to stay at Lizard again.

A very well thought out little place. We were initially a bit concerned regarding a review we read about the mattress being uncomfortable! We were happy we slept soundly. It’s a very small place but it is mentioned in the information. We were prepared to practically live out of our suitcase. ❤️❤️

The description of "courtyard garden" for us was a stretch to far. It truth it is just the entrance to the property, and with the gate closed no view at all. The bedroom was so small there was not even room to store clothing apart from on the wals. Bathroom tiny with no window and extractor did nor work. Curtains very poor. Water stained and needed changing. On a positive short walk to coast path & village, but not worth the money, & owner very helpful in getting the cooker to work Soory to be negative, but these are our thoughts
