Altarnun 5.8 miles, Located beside stunning Dozmary Pool near Altarnun on atmospheric Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, this detached house on two levels boasts far-reaching views across the lake to the moors beyond and is the ideal holiday home for a family break or a small gathering of friends. It was converted from a stone barn but is now thoroughly modernised with underfloor heating and a handmade oak kitchen and is ideal for those wishing to escape a hectic lifestyle; it offers peace and tranquillity.
The occasional horse rider or walker may pass, but here are mostly the sounds of nature: skylarks, waterfowl, buzzards plus stunning night skies.
Glazed doors open into an open-plan living/dining room with fitted kitchen area complete with granite worktops, slate floor, and wood burning stove.
There is a ground-floor king-size double bedroom with lake views and en suite shower-room.

A busy port where scenes from Doc Martin were filmed, Port Isaac, allows you to still see the fisherman at work.
Cycling and walking are common pastimes here, but there is also a wealth of history about the area to discover with stately homes and museums aplenty as well as a little further afield, places such as the Eden Project, cruises from Truro to Falmouth or even surfing on the North Cornish coast. Dozmary Pool itself is so tranquil and great for wildlife spotting. Everything was clean and the cottage was well equipped for our stay. We were very lucky with the weather for the week stayed and managed to explore many towns and beaches. We plan to return in the future to make the most of this beautiful area.

We felt two dishwasher tablets for a weekâs stay was a bit mean and had to also wash surfaces with washing up liquid. The surrounding moors and woods are peaceful places to just âbeâ and decompress from busy lives. The garden was secure enough to keep our spaniel from exploring elsewhere and the cows walking by provided great entertainment.
