Located in one of Cornwall's prettiest villages, a short distance from the incredible Bodmin Moor, is Spindles, a 19th Century stone cottage, situated on the outskirts of Lewannick. Spindles offers cosy and homely accommodation for a family or group of five guests wanting to explore as much of Cornwall as possible, with a central location and excellent road connections making both coasts accessible, as well as Bodmin Moor and even the Tamar Valley and coastal city of Plymouth. Enter the property and be spoilt for choice by two almost identical sitting rooms, each with glorious window seats and lovely woodburning stoves, as well as a selection of books and games to entertain the whole family, while one has fantastic slate flooring and the other has a soft carpet and the added entertainment of a TV with Freeview and Netflix, so you can enjoy a family movie night as you cosy up by the fire. The dining room can comfortably seat six, so you can enjoy delicious meals together, prepared in the spacious, bright and airy kitchen with white units and marble worktops, fully equipped with all the mod cons you could need, and even has a Bosch coffee machine for that morning caffeine fix. There is a handy cloakroom downstairs, while the family bathroom can be found on the first floor, offering a shower over bath and two heated towel rails for your comfort. The three bedrooms can also be found on this level, with a master double offering another pretty window seat and ample storage space, a twin room with stunning original pine floorboards and garden views, and a single bedroom with a dressing table, fitted wardrobe and a selection of books to enjoy. Outside there is plenty of roadside parking available, along with a delightful, enclosed back terrace with outdoor seating and a barbecue, perfect for taking advantage of Cornwall's excellent weather and dining alfresco. The village of Lewannick offers a village pub and a shop/post office, as well as being close to Trethorne Leisure Park and Hidden Valley park and garden. The ancient town of Launceston is just over five miles away, with its imposing 13th century English Heritage castle, its steam heritage railway, which offers Heritage railway offering 5-mile round trips on the North Cornwall line, and some wonderful architecture, including fine Georgian buildings in the central square. Lewannick has excellent road connections, and you can reach Bude on the north coast, with its choice of popular sandy beaches and great surfing, as well as the idyllic fishing ports of Looe and Polperro to the south, within a 40-minute drive. Explore the stunning Bodmin Moor AONB, offering scenic walking trails through grassland, heather-clad granite moorland, craggy tors and peaks, where you can expect to see Bronze Age Cairns and grazing ponies. Venture into the Tamar Valley to discover the National Trust properties of Cotehele and Buckland Abbey, as well as Morwellham Quay, a former copper mine with an underground railway and museums, plus walks or boat rides along the Tamar River and yet more magnificent strolls through pristine countryside. Why not take a day trip to Exeter, only a 40 minute drive away. Spindles is a fantastic property in an advantageous location for discovering Cornwall.
The historic village of Lewannick is believed to have been inhabited since medieval times. There is a local church, a shop and community pub in the village, while nearby Launceston offers wonderful architecture, and is dominated by the ruins of its Norman castle, elevated high above the town.
