Escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life at this elegant stone cottage sitting in a complex of properties on the edge of Bodmin Moor. Sleeping four people over two bedrooms, this lovely cottage is the perfect accommodation option for small families or groups of friends searching for a period cottage to call home while they enjoy an unforgettable getaway together on the Cornish coast. During the day, explore Launceston Castle, a significant Norman motte-and-bailey castle built after 1066, and in the evening, come home to relax with a glass of wine in the cottage’s south-facing courtyard and wait for the stars to come out.
Find your spot in the private parking area and step into this characterful escape located in the wing of a historic manor house. Walk through the entrance hall, where you’ll find plenty of space for your outdoor gear, and continue on to the inviting open-plan lounge/dining area. Take a seat by the wood burner in the lounge area and take a moment to appreciate the rich warm colours, period features elegant antique furniture. When it’s time to eat, head to the country-style kitchen to rustle up some dinner and share it with your loved ones at the elegant mahogany table in the dining area. Alternatively, head outside to the lovely south-facing courtyard, fire up the BBQ and enjoy an al fresco feast together. Afterwards, check out the games at the shared games room, or take a stroll through the beautiful fenced orchard. At the end of the day, head upstairs and you’ll find two charming bedrooms – a super-king-size with an elegant en-suite, and a flexible twin/super-king room. Both are styled in soothing tones and offer peaceful country views. Completing the layout, you’ll find a chic family bathroom (reached via a step down) with a roll-top bath and a separate shower. In the morning, take a stroll through the gate in the orchard, and you’ll have the freedom to explore an additional 20 acres leading down to the River Lynher.
Let the kids let off some steam at Trethorne Leisure Park (4.5 miles), where you’ll find everything from ten-pin bowling to an animal encounter farm. Alternatively, step aboard a carriage at the Launceston Steam Railway (7.5 miles) and enjoy a nostalgic journey on a lovingly restored steam locomotive through the scenic landscape surrounding Launceston.
