Guests say

Acorns is a well-equipped, pet-friendly cottage with an enclosed garden, ideal for dog owners. Guests appreciate the tranquil location, perfect for exploring Cornwall and Devon. The upside-down layout offers a cosy atmosphere, and the hosts are praised for their warm welcome, including occasional gifts of eggs and wine. Some guests mention discomfort with the sofas and a need for additional heating in the bedroom.

Most guests found the cottage to be well-maintained, though there were a few mentions of cleanliness issues such as a strong smell and recycling not being cleared. The majority did not raise cleanliness as a concern.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity and as a base for exploring nearby attractions. The rural setting and proximity to walking areas and theatres are appreciated, despite the narrow lanes.

Guests enjoyed the cosy atmosphere but reported issues with sofa comfort and the need for additional heating, particularly in the downstairs bedroom. The garden is a highlight for relaxation.

The cottage is considered well-equipped by most guests, with a special mention of EV charging availability. However, some guests suggested improvements in heating and sofa quality.

The hosts are commended for their thoughtfulness, including welcome gifts such as eggs and wine. While these gestures are warmly received, it is noted that such gifts are offered at the hosts' discretion and may not be a consistent amenity for all guests.

The accommodation was just the right size and location that we wanted as it gave us a base to explore cornwall but also dip into devon . It's a upside down house with the bedroom downstairs and living room/kitchen/garden upstairs . Owners friendly and greeted us on arrival and we got left some eggs and wine as a welcome gift which was a nice touch . I asked before arrival if there was a ironing board but there wasn't so they put a iron and ironing board in there for us which was very good of them . The country lanes were a little intimidating at first but you soon get used to them and supermarkets , pubs ect... not too far away . If you want peace and quiet this is ideal and with so many days out we went to cheesewring ( 10mins ) great walking there , Torquay ( 1.5hours ) , st ives (1.5hours) , looe(20mins) fowey(30mins) , Plymouth ( 1 hour) newquay and perranporth (45mins) we had terrible weather in September so we found we drove about more depending on where the best westher forecast was but there were great days out nearer to home .The cottage was nice but our main gripe was especially upstairs a strong smell of wet dog I bought air freshener, shake and vacuum and fabric refresher but couldn't seem to get rid of the smell . The sofas are very uncomfortable esp the navy one please replace these after a long day sightseeing you need comfort . The heating you cant control yourself but can message owners to put it on as they live next door and while upstairs there was a plug in fire to take the chill off downstairs (bedroom) there was no natural light apart from a window facing a wall so it was always cold i woukd suggest to the owners to buy a plug in oil filled radiator as you needed some heat down there it gets very chilly on a night .
