About this property

No 1 is a beautifully restored, single storey barn conversion set in the historic Cornish town of Liskeard, offering an idyllic retreat surrounded by ancient landscapes and rich heritage. Perfect for a couple or two friends, this character-filled cottage blends modern comfort with authentic period charm, from its exposed stone walls to its spacious, peaceful outdoor areas. Tucked within Cornwall’s atmospheric countryside, it provides an ideal base for exploring the region’s dramatic coastlines, scenic walking trails, and iconic landmarks.

Inside, guests can enjoy a well-equipped kitchen for preparing favourite meals before unwinding in the cosy living and dining area, complete with a Smart TV for relaxed evenings at home. The enclosed front garden creates a serene setting for morning coffee or evening drinks, with a private patio, table, and chairs offering views of the surrounding historic landscape under starry skies. The newly furnished king-size bedroom and generous bathroom provide a calm and restful space after days spent discovering Cornwall’s natural beauty and ancient stories.

Just beyond the doorstep, Liskeard invites visitors to explore its fascinating past, vibrant local cafés, traditional pubs, and inviting restaurants. Nearby attractions include and the tranquil paths of South Phoenix Mine and Golitha Falls, where the River Fowey cascades through enchanting woodland, and for the adventure seekers, Adrenalin Quarry, set within a dramatic flooded quarry. A trip to the legendary Cheesewring allows guests to immerse themselves in centuries-old Cornish folklore, while Torpoint’s Wacker Quay and Tregantle Fort offer stunning coastal vistas and excellent walking routes. Those drawn to the sea can wander the rockpools of Readymoney Cove or discover marine life at Fowey Aquarium, perfect for a deeper look at the wildlife of the Cornish Coast.

Just a short drive away, discover the iconic Looe, the windswept Bodmin Moor, St Austell and the Eden Project, and the bustling Plymouth. There is truly something for everyone here on your Cornish escape.

For a romantic escape steeped in history, natural beauty, and authentic Cornish charm, No 1 offers an unforgettable getaway.

A moorland village called Pensilva has roots in Cornwall's tin mining past. This area of the Bodmin Moor is noted for its craggy Cheesewring Quarry, from which granite was used to construct Plymouth's Devonport Dockyard, and the lonely settlement of Minions, which is the location of the renowned Hurlers stone circles. There are beautiful hikes to Rough Tor and Brown Willy further west. The neighbouring Siblyback Reservoir, which is a great place for fishing and offers a variety of watersports. The market town of Liskeard is nearby, as are other well-known coastal scenic places like Polperro and Fowey, as well as the well-known fishing port of Looe on the south Cornwall coast, which is just 14 miles away.

It has everything you need for a comfortable stay and a lovely patio area which gets the sun for most of the day. We were lucky with the weather which was glorious. A good base to explore the area. Our lovely host was there to welcome us on arrival and was there to see us off and make sure we had enjoyed our stay. Would not hesitate to stay here again if we come back to the area.
