Set on the glorious Lanwithan Estate in the pretty riverside town of Lostwithiel, these lovely, detached properties are perfect for families wanting the peace and quiet of rural surroundings whilst being just a couple of minutes from the town. The Farmhouse has a spacious kitchen/breakfast room, a separate more formal dining room, and a living room with an open fire. The second property on-site, Granny’s Cottage, is a charming, detached retreat with a romantic, four poster bed in the master bedroom. Both properties make an ideal location for a family holiday, not only in summer but also for lovely spring and autumn breaks, as well as winter and Christmas getaways for a special family gathering.
The gardens and grounds at Lanwithan are simply gorgeous, with mature oak trees and impressive giant firs growing alongside colourful camellias, azaleas and rhododendrons. The Farmhouse and Granny’s Cottage share the extensive grounds with a small cluster of other holiday cottages on-site which have been converted from the original farm buildings. Guests are welcome to wander and explore the grounds, take in the stunning views across fields and stroll down to the banks of the River Fowey. The friendly owners live on-site in the manor house and are always happy to help. Lostwithiel itself has a unique range of shops including crafts, gifts, antiques and an auction house. Beach 7 miles. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub ½ mile.

I wished we had some sort of mosquito etc. protection ! The TV was not easy to work out. However it was comfortable, spacious, quiet and peaceful. We very much enjoyed our stay. There is no hot water unless the heating is on ! If one wants a hot bath etc. The showers work from a separate system ; so are not affected. It was good to be out in the country side and at the same time only took us 10 minutes to walk in to Lostwithiel. Where there is big Co op convenience store and a few other shops. There is only one small car park ; which was nearly always full ! Children's play area and the river is good to paddle and bathe in.

Our second time staying at The Farmhouse, and we love it. We have children of mixed ages between 4-14 and they also love it here. Great to unplug and relax for a few days. It’s an old farmhouse so if you’re expecting mod cons and complete cleanliness this isn’t it but if your after comfort and calm this is the place. Local Chinese delivers for cash as is very tasty, local pub very friendly and walking distance.

The Farmhouse was great - very comfortable & the location was brilliant. It is surrounded by fields and green hills and all you can hear is birdsong but you can walk into Lostwithiel, which is lovely, in 10 minutes. It is a great base for The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Lanhydrock National Trust House (only 4 miles away), Fowey, Restormel Castle, the beach at Par Sands and many more lovely locations in South Cornwall. We also had a fantastic Sunday Roast at The Royal Oak pub in Lostwithiel, only 10 minutes away. Would definitely return and recommend.
