Perched above Mevagissey harbour on Cornwall’s south coast, The Perch is a grand Victorian manor designed for memorable group stays. Sleeping up to 16 guests across eight bedrooms, the house combines generous entertaining spaces with two acres of gardens, sea views and an impressive collection of facilities.

Inside, there is plenty of room for everyone to find their favourite corner. Gather around the dining table for long group suppers, settle into the drawing room beside the wood burner or make an evening of it in the snooker room. A separate games room adds pool and table tennis, while the central hall transforms into a full disco complete with DJ booth, turntables and light show.

Outside, summer days can be spent around the heated swimming pool, challenging friends on the all-weather tennis court or gathering for alfresco meals prepared on the barbecue or wood-fired pizza oven beneath the covered gazebo. The gardens also include orchards, lawns and areas for croquet and cricket.

Six of the bedrooms have their own bathrooms, while a separate Honeymoon Suite offers extra privacy with a kitchenette, wood burner and private terrace. And when you want to venture out, Mevagissey’s harbour, pubs, shops and restaurants are within walking distance down the hill.

The Perch sits above Mevagissey on Cornwall’s south coast, putting one of the county’s best-known fishing villages within easy reach. Wander downhill to the harbour, where colourful fishing boats come and go and narrow streets lead to independent shops, cafés, pubs and seafood restaurants. Boat trips also depart from the harbour, offering a chance to explore the coastline from the water.

There is plenty to discover further afield. The sandy beach at Pentewan is a short drive away, while walkers can join the South West Coast Path for clifftop routes and hidden coves. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are also close by, with 200 acres of gardens, woodland and farmland to explore.

For a change of scene, head to the harbour town of Fowey, explore the Roseland Peninsula or spend a day at the Eden Project. With beaches, coastal walks and some of Cornwall’s most appealing villages nearby, The Perch makes a well-placed base for discovering the south coast.
