Lost Barn in Cornwall is a well-received cottage, praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and peaceful rural setting. Guests appreciate the thoughtful touches like welcome packs and the property's proximity to local attractions. While some minor issues with facilities and outdoor space are noted, the overall experience is one of a tranquil and luxurious stay.
The majority of guests found the property to be spotlessly clean, with only a few mentioning minor issues such as cobwebs and weeds. The high standard of cleanliness contributed positively to the guests' experiences.
The location is generally appreciated for its tranquility and proximity to local attractions, beaches, and walks. Some guests noted the narrow access lane and the lack of enclosed outdoor space for pets as drawbacks.
Guests consistently mention the comfortable furnishings, particularly the beds and the luxurious touches such as bathrobes and chocolates. A few guests suggested improvements to seating arrangements and heating control.
While the property is equipped with high-quality appliances and generous welcome packs, some guests experienced issues with the internet connection, outdated TV, and minor maintenance problems. The presence of a large unfenced pond was also a concern for pet owners.
The hosts are commended for their generous welcome packs, which often include cream teas, champagne, and chocolates. However, it should be noted that such gifts, while frequently mentioned, may vary and are not guaranteed with every stay.
A fabulously stylish barn conversion, The Lost Barn is tucked away in the idyllic grounds of the former landed Figg-Hoblyn estate close to Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth. The owners of this Grade II listed property have taken great care in tastefully transforming the barn into a luxurious holiday home, fitted and furnished to the highest of standards. On the ground floor is a generous sitting room with plush sofa, chaise longue and two armchairs. and dining area. Elegant floor-to-ceiling windows let in plenty of natural light. Just off the sitting room, a well-equipped kitchen with sociable breakfast bar and range cooker provides a homely hub in which to prepare delicious family suppers. Stairs lead from the sitting room to the first floor, where there are two bedrooms and a family bathroom. The bedrooms (one of which can be presented as either a super king or twin room) both boast beautiful high, beamed ceilings and unique pieces of antique French furniture. In the bathroom, guests will find a freestanding Jacuzzi bath as well as a separate shower cubicle. On sunny days, the property's terrace provides a lovely spot for a morning coffee; see if you can spot the Koi Carp in the ornamental pond. Guests also have shared access to the property's orchard and paddock. Blissfully peaceful and secluded, you are unlikely to see anyone else during your stay, perhaps only the property owners or guests of the adjoining barn, The Hideaway. Out and about, this part of the county offers some fantastic surfing beaches, namely Watergate Bay, Fistral, Porth, Mawgan Porth and Holywell Bay, as well as some highly-acclaimed restaurants with famous connections. Wax Watergate Bay restaurant at Watergate Bay enjoys a superb location just above the beach. Choose to do as much or as little as you like at this beautifully magical retreat.
Watergate Bay has 1.5 miles of golden sand and excellent surf, and is home to the Extreme Academy – one of Britain’s leading watersports venues.
