Sea Shanty Cottage is a traditional fisherman’s style cottage, situated in the working harbour of Newlyn. It’s nestled away on one of its most famous cobbled streets. You can stroll and explore everything that Newlyn has to offer and walk along the harbours edge, where the local fishing fleet land their fresh catch daily.
The village itself has a traditional Cornish feel, with its pubs, restaurants and the famous Newlyn Film House, as well as a lovely art gallery with a café giving panoramic views of the sea. A picturesque leisurely walk will take you to Mousehole in one direction, and Penzance in the other, with its long promenade and heated lido swimming pool. Newlyn is within close proximity to Marazion with mystical St Michael’s Mount.
The Cornish Peninsula has an abundance of places to discover - beautiful beaches and coves, surfing at Sennen, gorgeous Porthcurno and its turquoise water. You can also visit the magical open-air Minack Theatre overlooking the sea, St Ives, Lands End, the Lizard Peninsula, Porthleven and hidden Lamora Cove, and the tranquil Penberth Cove, famed as a location for the TV series, ‘Poldark’.
There is an abundance of wonderful places to visit that are easily reached by car, including Falmouth, Truro, Padstow, Port Isaac, The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. There are beautiful beaches on both the south and north coasts, fishing villages, coastal walks, cycling, fishing, golf, and a plethora of National Trust properties and grounds, all within reach of this delightful cottage. It really is the perfect location to explore this remarkable area, and the stunning county of Cornwall.
