About this property

St Day 1 mile. Located in a quiet wooded area on the grounds of a historic Cornish country estate, Poppyfields Stable is a charming getaway. Porthtowan and Portreath with their delightful beaches are just a short drive away, making Poppyfields Stable an ideal location for exploring the rugged north coast of Cornwall. This secluded and private location is approached via a private lane, providing a tranquil and private setting during your stay. Look forward to conjuring up delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchen/diner, featuring a handy washing machine and dishwasher, ready to enjoy at the dining table for four. If the weather is nice, why not fire up the barbecue out in the private enclosed courtyard or graveled garden where you can savour your dinner alfresco. After dinner, retire to the sitting room, where you can relax in front of the alluring woodburning stove, as you select a much-loved show from the TV with Freeview and Netflix. Completing the ground-floor is a spacious twin with zip/link and its own private en-suite shower room. Make your way up to the first floor, where you can wash away the day in the beautiful freestanding bath, before retreating to the fabulous king-size bedroom with private balcony, a perfect spot for savouring your morning coffee as you soak up the views. If you prefer a night away from the kitchen take a walk along country lanes (torch provided is advisable) to Vogue where you will find The Star Inn which boasts good food. Poppyfields Stable is the ideal location for making memories in Cornwall. Note: This property can be booked with Ref: 1095341 together sleeping six guests.

Until nearby Redruth took over as the mining centre of mid-Cornwall, you can still see a few terraces of granite cottages built for the miners.

St. Day or Dye, a little-known saint, was the original inspiration for the name of the village (better known in Brittany). The granite, gothic-style church, built in 1828, is the oldest structure in the village, along with a pub and a convenience store. Visitors from around the world flock to the coastal village of Portreath, just six miles away, for its wild and rugged coastline. Despite the area's natural beauty and proximity to the ocean, there are still reminders of the area's rich industrial history scattered throughout its cliffs, coves, and sandy beaches. With a small fishing harbour, a variety of shops, several pubs, three cafes, and a Chinese restaurant, Portreath has something for everyone. It's just 7 miles from Truro to the cathedral city of Truro, with its cobbled streets and shopping centre, theatre, museum, and great restaurants, or a few miles along the coast to Hayle and on to St Ives. A wonderful place to spend time off.

Nice to have the log burner on in the evening to add that little bit of warmth and ambiance. Hosts/owners were extremely welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. Lovely quiet setting, central to Cornwall's attractions.

Barry and Viv are perfect hosts with great knowledge of the area. Property is beautiful and of a high standard with everything you could possibly need. There is a secluded garden which is great for chilling out with a glass of wine after a full day exploring nearby beaches and stunning coves.
