Ocean Blue in Porthtowan is perfect for families and couples seeking a beachside retreat. With a sandy beach within paces and gorgeous sea views from the living room and balcony, it is buckets and spades at the ready! Ocean Blue offers welcoming, comfy and contemporary-styled accommodation, nestled within a small development of apartments almost on the beach. Taking advantage of its first floor position, there are glorious elevated views towards the ocean and lush countryside. The interior is fresh and homely with an open-plan living room with dining area and kitchen and patio doors to the sunny balcony. Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at the bijou table and bench in the Cornish air. There are two serene bedrooms, one with double bed and the other with two singles. Restful sleep is a given after a soak in the bathroom. Set amidst this coastal hot-spot in a vibrant village community, there are foodie pubs, a delicious deli cafe, the famed Blue Bar cafe/restaurant and a little supermarket all within a few minutes walk. Porthtowan Beach is ideal for play, picnics and swimming, with surf school, boards and wetsuits for hire and seasonal lifeguard patrol. Ramblers will enjoy the scenic delights along the coastal footpath. There are so many beautiful beaches to discover along the north Atlantic coast. Trevaunance Cove at St Agnes is a worthy walk; reward yourself with a real ale and hearty grub from the famed Driftwood Spars inn. Maritime favourite Falmouth on the south coast is reached within a half hour drive. Peruse the harbour, choice of beaches, museum, eateries for all appetites and galleries lining the charismatic lanes. What more do you need from a beside-the-sea bolthole?
Porthtowan is a small village resting on west Cornwall's beautiful coastline, renowned for its Blue Flag beach, which at low tide exposes almost a mile and a half of fine, golden sands. Fringed by impressive granite cliffs, the beach is a popular surfing venue and is lifeguarded during the summer, making it ideal for families. Porthtowan is part of the St Agnes designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and there are some wonderful walks to be found, offering vivid scenery along the South West Coast Path, whether you choose to head east to St Agnes or west to Portreath. The towns of St Ives and Penzance, with their art galleries, restaurants and quaint harbours, are half an hours drive away, whilst Flambards Theme Park, The Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek, and the Goonhilly Satellite Earth Station are just a few of the other diverse attractions scattered around this picturesque region. A great base for a varied family break.

The accommodation is ideally situated close to all of the amenities, restaurants, coastal paths and within minutes of Porthtowanâs stunning beach. We had a very comfortable stay and the property was spotless and well appointed with everything you could need. The welcome gift was a lovely added touch too! We would certainly recommend Ocean Blue. Booking through the website was simple. We received contact from the owner in advance with details. On arrival we accessed the property and found it to be well furnished, clean , tidy and presented with well thought out decor. There was the welcome sight, after a long journey to get there, of fresh flowers, tea , coffee, scones, jam, clotted cream, fudge, and other essentials (washing up liquid, soap, towels, shampoo, shower gel etc.). There was milk in the fridge. Welcome book included instructions for equipment in the apartment, leaflets for local attractions, and maps. The bathroom is a good size with seperate bath and shower. The kids were captivated by the in built tv / mirror in the bathroom. The small balcony overlooks the playground and local pub, and you can see the sea to the left⦠which is lovely to watch the sun set whilst the waves crash. The beach is a 2 minute walk away. There is a Fish and Chip shop also down the road (note it does only sell Fish and Chips⦠Cod Haddock and nothing else) The village itself is small it thatâs what you want on a holiday like this. There is a cafe and ice cream shop nearby. The Victory Inn pub is a short drive away but worth it. A very nice holiday location.
