With several hundred years of history behind its walls, this charming mid-terrace cottage is located in the heart of the quaint, fishing village of Mevagissey in Cornwall. In Mevagissey the streets are lined with gift shops, craft workshops, galleries, quaint cafés and historical pubs and restaurants. Set over three floors, Blue Crab Cottage is just a short level walk from the harbour and boasts three bedrooms sleeping six guests, ideal for a family or couples holiday to the southern coast. Step inside this lovely dwelling and be welcomed into the open-plan living and dining room to find a great social space comprising soft seating for 6 guests and a unique church pew for social family and friends gatherings after a day at the beach, coastal walks or browsing the many quaint shops in Mevagissey.
The the wall-mounted TV also provides freeway, and you can login to your Netflix or Prime accounts for your favourite TV shows and films. There is a dining table tucked in the corner encompassed on two sides by clever bench seating, perfect for seating everyone for a delicious home-cooked or takeaway meal. The garden doors can be opened up during balmy evenings to let the summer breeze in while you tuck in, before heading out into the enclosed, high walled garden to continue the conversation on the decking. The kitchen is fitted with pistachio units and hosts all you need to inspire tasty home-cooking, including an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and the all-important dishwasher to minimise the chores.
An understairs cupboard houses the handy washing machine and mini freezer, while heading up the staircase takes you to the first floor where you'll discover a delightful double bedroom, a bathroom and a shower room. Freshen up on this floor before finding two further bedrooms to choose from on the second floor, with another 2 double rooms up here so you can choose the perfect bedrooms for your group. When you're ready to get out and about, you'll find everything you need on your doorstep, with the picturesque harbour just a short, level stroll away, along with the local boutiques and convenience shops.
There are a number of pubs to choose from, including a 15th century tavern and a good range of restaurants, takeaways, cafés, including an award winning tea room and of course fish and chip shops! Learn about the locals at the excellent Folk Museum, see the working harbour in action, or even visit The World of Model Railways Exhibition which is home to an impressive collection, whilst a quaint aquarium is housed in the old lifeboat house showcasing locally caught fish. Take a walk up to Polkirt Hill to enjoy the sweeping views over the higgledy streets and harbour, whilst further in the distance are the golden sands of Polstreath Beach and St Austell Bay.
Embark on a journey along the South West Coast Path to come to the stunning near-white sands of Pentewan Beach, perfect for a wonderful day of sunbathing, paddling in the sea and enjoying all kinds of watersports, with hire of canoes and sailing dinghies available from the nearby holiday park. The Pentewan Valley Trail runs along the old Pentewan railway to St Austell making a lovely afternoon ramble, whilst nearby attractions including The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Caerhays Castle, the beautifully scenic Dodman Point, The Eden Project and of course Charlestown, home of Poldark, is a stone’s throw away. In fact many Cornish attractions in Cornwall is accessible within about 45 minutes of this stunning location.

Mevagissey is a lovely fishing village resting on the south coast of Cornwall offering an idyllic base for coastal adventures. The village is host to a collection of local shops, pubs and restaurants with the South West Coast Path easily accessible for walks amidst breath-taking seascapes. Nearby, The Lost Gardens of Heligan is a great attraction to visit, spotting the collection of sculptures within the foliage, with ferries from Mevagissey to Fowey running between Easter to September.

Property was clean but a few issues, guessing this is as the property is now up for sale , beds were awful and not twin in one room , no instructions on how to operate anything or how to dispose of rubbish , no heating in either bathroom and the heating was not able to be increased upstairs , toilet broke and was not sorted during our stay but understand time of year

Be careful when opening the front door as itâs immediately onto the road so watch your small children and dogs. There is a sign on the door reminding you to be mindful of this. Short stay car park a few yards from th cottage where you can park up to unload. Permit is included for your stay in willow car park which is about a 5-6 minute walk. A secured garden which could do with a little tidy up but very secure for dogs. Household rubbish could be collected on a more frequent basis as this was left from previous guests and wasnât collected The cottage is very spacious and beds are sooo comfortable. Three lovely spacious double bedrooms. Lots of draw space for clothes etc with good wardrobe space. Decor is lovely in my opinion. Tv is tricky to switch on even with instructions but luckily we arenât massive Tv watchers as was busy out and about enjoying days out and in mevagissey. No hairdryer so ensure you take your own. If more than four of you staying take a couple of tea towels and bath/hand towels with you. These are provided however best to take a couple of extras with you The heaters in the kitchen and upstairs bedrooms we couldnât fathom how to turn on with the timer so was quite chilly upstairs and in the kitchen but the lounge was lovely, cosy and warm constantly. Itâs probably in the email welcome pack how to set the temp on the heaters and Iâve missed it. A welcome pack folder as a back up to email would be useful in the cottage Incase you canât access signal or wifi on your phone. We did find the wifi connection excellent with no issues at all and good signal Toilet flush issue which was reported to the owner immediately so hopefully will be fixed soon however we had two bathrooms so didnât affect us We had a lovely week and look forward to returning soon

The cottage is perfect the village is beautiful and the people are so friendly. We will be back again.
