About this property

Tucked away on the outskirts of the historic Port Isaac in Cornwall, is this superb, three-bedroom timber lodge, Campion Lodge. Boasting a fantastic location next to the owner’s 18th-century farmhouse which has an adjoining four-acres with farm animals, as well as spectacular views over the stunning Port Isaac Bay and easy access to Cornwall’s best beaches, Campion Lodge is an idyllic setting for a group or family of six looking to escape to the coast. Be welcomed into the open-plan living space, sure to be the social hub of the home during your stay, where you will find a well-equipped kitchen for rustling up flavourful meals for your guests, with the help of the electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher for a fuss-free clean up! Once dinner is served, gather around the dining table for six as you savour a delicious meal and make plans for the days ahead. If the weather is nice, why not continue the evening out on the private patio where you can enjoy evening drinks as the little one’s play? Take advantage of the additional shared one-acre field where you can explore or play lawn games with your family. On the grounds you will also find a handy laundry room which houses a coin-operated washing machine and tumble dryer, ideal for keeping your holiday wardrobe fresh! As the evening cools, retreat to the plush sofa in the sitting room where you can snuggle up and select your favourite film from the TV with Freeview and DVD player. Prepare for a restful night with an indulgent soak in the bath or refreshing rinse under the overhead shower, before choosing from one of three well-presented rooms, a double, a twin and a bunk, ensuring flexible sleeping arrangements for all parties. Awake from a leisurely slumber and kick-start your day with a steaming cup of coffee, followed by embarking on one of the scenic footpaths available right on your doorstep. Note: This property can be booked with Refs. 1089243, 1089244, 1089246, 1089248, 1089251, 1089253, and 1089254, together sleeping up to 39 guests.

Cornwall's hidden gem, Port Isaac, is a must-see destination. Located in a steep-sided valley, the old village in the valley has remained virtually unchanged since its heyday as a fishing, slate exporting, and smuggling centre in the previous century. Small character properties, as well as larger cliff-top retreats, can be found in the village and are conveniently located near the village's numerous restaurants and shops. A plethora of rock pools are exposed as the tide recedes in the sandy harbour.

Sure the property could to with a little TLC but balancing size, price and where it is, we highly recommend it.

This is a reflection on the overall presentation, comfort, and value of the property as well as the lack of assistance from the Sykes customer services team, who were less than helpful during our stay. Firstly, the dishwasher top tray is broken and looks like it has been for some time, without being addressed. Everything comes crashing down if you try to pull out the top tray to put dishes in it as the main support on the left hand side has completely come away. The bathroom is quite shabby and is in need of a good lick of durable bathroom paint throughout. There is also no proper shower head that you can actually stand under and get a decent shower, only a hand spray mounted on the wall which is actually meant for cleaning the bath. The quilts on the beds in the twin room are not very comfortable and are just cheap wadding inside a translucent nylon sheath. The duvet covers on these quilts don't have fastenings and so therefore tend to ride up away from the inner quilt. More importantly, there is a lot of mis-representation around the provision of towels. The confirmation I received after booking said that the majority of properties have towels and linens provided, however there were no towels at the property. Sykes also send as a reminder, a list of items you might need during your stay, and towels don't even make an appearance on that list, although a picnic basket does (go figure!). I even spoke to Sykes before departure and verified the need for a tea towel which they recommend, and at no point did they even care to mention that as well as a tea towel, we also needed to bring bath towels! Would have been quite a simple and helpful tip. I called Sykes on arrival about this and despite them confirming quite abruptly that no towels were provided at the property, it seems to be at odds with a notice on the dining table that before your departure, you are meant to deposit your bed linens AND TOWELS in the linen bag provided ready for laundering! How does this even make any sense if no towels are meant to be provided? Sykes had no answer for this and promised to get back to me but never did for the duration of the week. Also, be aware that no toilet rolls are provided and there is nothing to wash individual dishes with by hand in the kitchen sink if not using the broken dishwasher. Quite honestly, I could have booked other properties at a much more reasonable price, all of which provided towels for their guests, as has been my experience with all other properties I have stayed at. Over-priced for what it is sadly.
