Swallow Barn in Cornwall receives high praise for its stunning location, cleanliness, and welcoming atmosphere. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, comfortable furnishings, and the delightful garden with a hot tub. The thoughtful touches by hosts Frank and Kay, including a cream tea welcome, contribute to a memorable stay. While some minor suggestions for improvement are noted, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.
Reviews consistently mention the property being spotlessly clean, indicating a high standard of cleanliness. The lack of negative comments on cleanliness supports a near-perfect score.
The property's location is praised for its quiet setting with stunning views and proximity to local attractions. The ease of access to other parts of Cornwall is also appreciated, justifying a high score.
Comfort is highly rated, with mentions of a comfortable bed and welcoming lounge. Some guests suggested improvements to seating options, which slightly affects the score.
Facilities are generally well-received, especially the hot tub and well-stocked kitchen. However, there are mixed feelings about the hot tub's style and some suggestions for additional crockery, leading to a slightly lower score.
The hosts' thoughtfulness is evident through the provision of welcome treats like cream tea and homemade cake. While these gestures are highly appreciated, it is noted that such gifts are a kind bonus and not guaranteed.
This light, airy and very stylish semi-detached cottage, converted from a courtyard of handsome Victorian barns, sits quietly tucked away 2 miles from the little village of St Kew, and a short hop from the famous fishing village of Port Isaac. This stylish cottage, perfect for couples, is all on one level and you can star gaze or drink in the countryside views from the privately positioned Japanese-style, wood-fired hot tub for two (available at extra charge, fuel provided) located in the back garden. Relax in the big, light and airy sitting room with wood burning stove and dining area, filled with light from a large skylight in the lofty ceiling.
There's a well-equipped kitchen for preparing tasty meals for enjoyment indoors or alfresco in the neat back garden with that wonderful hot tub and a very swish awning. One double bedroom with pretty views and a bathroom complete the interior accommodation, whilst outside is the lovely south-facing, shrub and flower-filled garden. The local pub, The Red Lion, half a mile from the property, serves food. You can also enjoy a freshly-prepared meal in the good food pub in the local village of St Kew or head for Port Isaac just a short drive away, where you'll find many splendid cafes and restaurants.
A good all-year-round place for couples to relax or to tour the area's many fine surfing beaches, harbours and hidden coves.
Not far from Port Isaac, St Kew is a small village – the first recorded in Cornwall! - on the north Cornish coast. The village church dates from the fifteenth century and is home to some remarkable stained glass windows. Also in St Kew is a traditional village pub and a golf course, and there is a donkey sanctuary at St Kew Highway. The St Kew Inn also dates from the fifteenth century, and boasts a lovely open fire in winter and a pretty beer garden for sunshine drinks in the summer. There are some lovely walks in the countryside surrounding St Kew, including a circular route through the river valleys.

Beautiful cottage and private beautiful south facing garden to enjoy. Great location for driving around north and south cornwall. Lots of little touches in the cottage and perfect lemon drizzle cake to welcome is. Thank you. Very good communication before and during our stay. We had a couple of minor issues that were dealt with quickly and efficiently. We had a lovely time at the cottage and would certainly return.

The barn itself is a home from home with all that is needed for a perfect holiday. Frank was excellent and in contact on the run up to our stay and then during our stay. We highly recommend Swallow Barn and will be looking forward to staying there again.
