In a superb location for touring the dramatic north Cornish coastline, this cosy old cottage is set in the historic village of Delabole, approximately one mile inland from the coast and only five miles from Port Isaac. You will feel at home the moment you enter this delightful cottage, full of character with wooden beams, slate floors and a woodburner for those cooler evenings. As you go through the porch into the sitting room, the comfy sofa and a singe chair are both welcoming after a busy day. There is also a well-equipped kitchen and a dining area which leads out into the garden, where you will find a lawned garden and a patio with seating; a real suntrap and perfect for alfresco dining. Upstairs is where you will find the lovely bedroom with an adjoining dressing room, and just a few yards up the road from the cottage is a private parking space together with a lockable shed, ideal for storing bikes or surfboards. The village of Delabole lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which enjoys the same status and protection as a national park. You may well come across Martin Clunes in the village, for whilst he made Port Isaac famous with his portrayal of Doc Martin in the popular TV series, he admits to preferring to stay in Delabole when filming and says he has never seen such a close-knit community. Directly opposite the cottage are the Ferndale coarse fishing lakes, a thriving fishery where you can fish or settle down to a picnic in beautiful surroundings. There are many walking opportunities close by and one definitely worth taking is to the disused airfield at Treligga Downs, which offers amazing views up and down the coast. The surfing beach at Tregardock is near here and well worth seeing, while the cove at Backways and the ever popular Trebarwith Strand are also close by. Venturing both east and west along this exhilarating coastline gives you the opportunity to visit so many of the quaint villages and secluded coves which make this area of the county so popular. With so much to do and see, Trelengel is an ideal base for a holiday at any time of year.
Delabole has an interesting and unique history having the oldest slate quarry in Europe. Delabole will provide you with a quiet village location just a short drive from the beaches at Polzeath, Rock, Trebarwith and Tintagel. This stretch of coastline has safeguarded bathing beaches, surfing and cliff top walks along the South West coast path. Delabole is less than half an hour's drive from Bodmin Moor including the dramatic landscape around Rough Tor, perfect walking country.
