About this property
Mugwell Barn is a single-storey detached cottage about a ten minute walk from Luckett on a 7 acre smallholding. It faces away from the friendly owner’s cottage with lovely rural views. Perfect for couples. Step from the patio through big patio doors into a spacious open-plan living/dining room and kitchen area with wood-burning stove. Throw open the folding glazed doors on a beautiful day and gaze out over uninterrupted wooded meadows, or snuggle up to the cosy fire after a bracing autumn walk. There is a super king-size zip-linked bedroom with an en suite shower-room and glazed doors to the garden. The large patio has garden furniture and you are welcome to explore the gardens which has an unfenced wildlife pond. There are home produced eggs and bacon (when available) and logs. A lovely, get-away-from-everything place.
Callington is a Cornish market town, rich in mining heritage and overlooked by Kit Hill, the highest point in the area, donated to the people of Cornwall by Prince Charles to celebrate the birth of Prince William. From the top of Kit Hill there are fabulous views across south-east Cornwall as far as Plymouth Sound.

I was lucky with the weather the first week so apart from some walks straight from the door I spent it relaxing on the patio enjoying the views and peaceful environment. The lanes surrounding it are very narrow but also very quiet so you soon get used to them.The barn has everything in it that you could possibly need. Lyn and David are lovely hosts. There were some lovely treats for me on arrival. Lyn showed me around on and pointed out how everything works. Canât fault my stay and am missing the views and peace already. Will hopefully be back.

It is thoughtfully designed making your stay extremely comfortable, a home from home, We loved the Super King size bed, the underfloor heating, the sliding foldable double doors onto the patio and field area to the back of the property. The views are breath-taking. It is clean. The hosts are delightful and welcoming but left you to do your thing. We had a welcome pack of milk, bread and butter. It is so blissfully quiet. We left feeling so refreshed. We had our dog with us too and she had the best time, please be mindful you are in the country so take a long line to keep your dog safe but still able to enjoy the field to the rear. Truly a great find.
