About this property

Located in the peaceful hamlet of Treknow, Parwin is a charming cottage, just half a mile from the rugged north Cornish coast near Tintagel. Full of character, it has been carefully renovated and offers a comfortable stay in this beautiful part of Cornwall. Approached via five steep stone steps (with a rope handrail), the entrance hall leads to a cosy sitting room furnished with comfy, squashy sofas and a warming wood burner; the perfect place to snuggle up after a day out walking the coast path. The pretty, pale blue country kitchen diner offers a wonderful place to gather at meal times, and provides direct access to the courtyard garden. Two king size rooms (one on the ground floor with an en-suite shower room) and two twins provide flexible accommodation for friends and family holidaying together. The courtyard garden to the rear of the cottage is a lovely spot for a barbecue; sheltered and enclosed, it is a real suntrap and a great asset for those with children and pets. The patio courtyard has a drop of 2.5 ft to the BBQ therefore toddlers need supervision. Out and about, there is much to see and do; don't forget to pack your beach towel, and stroll down to the beach at Trebarwith. With lifeguard service and a surf school during the summer months, this beach is very popular with families, and allows dogs throughout the year. The local area is a rambler’s paradise, with mile upon mile of coastal footpath to explore, as well as the wild and romantic Bodmin Moor just a short drive away. There are also several championship golf courses nearby, as well as Tintagel Castle and a number of quintessentially Cornish harbour villages including Port Isaac, the setting for ITV's Doc Martin. Just a short distance from the cottage are two lovely village pubs, one of which (The Port William) offers wonderful panoramic views of the cliffs and beach below.

Trebarwith Strand is an unspoilt cove on the north coast of Cornwall. A small hamlet just 2 miles south west of Tintagel, it has just a few dwellings and a country pub. This beach side community provides a great magnet for surfers and coastal path walkers. With majestic scenery, high cliffs and rocky coves to explore it's the perfect holiday retreat, while Tintagel with King Arthur's castle, a selection of cafes and restaurants and an old Post Office is just one mile away over the cliff tops. The area is perfect for exploring the major surfing beaches to the south as well as the open spaces of Bodmin Moor just 10 miles to the east. The major beach resort of Bude is 12 miles away while Boscastle with its quaint harbour and pottery is just 4 miles away. Newquay, the Eden Project and the cathedral city of Truro can all be reached within 40 minutes by car.

It is beautifully and tastefully decorated throughout and has all the amenities you'd expect from a high end holiday cottage. My family (and dogs!) came down to Parwin for a long weekend stay in January 2024. It was the first time we'd stayed in the property in almost 37 years. Our family owned Parwin from 1982 unti 1987, so it was especially nostalgic to stay in a property which felt so familiar and that already held such good memories for us all. The village of Treknow is well located for the amenities of Tintagel (just a five minute drive up the road) and the gorgeous scenery of Trebarwith Strand beach and surrounding cliffs. We'd particularly recommend Sunday lunch at the Mill House Inn. This great pub can be found on the road down from Treknow to Trebarwith. The Port William pub is also a good place to stop off for a pint when you come off the beach, although it is an expensive bar bill! All in all we'd thoroughly recommend a stay in Parwin. A gorgeous, cosy home with everything you'll need for a great time away.

Very spacious and well equipped. An internal bath mat would be a small but very welcome and safe extra for use in the main bath/shower for children and adults alike. Parking was a little difficult but not impossible!

The kitchen, bathrooms and courtyard are really nice, it’s clean and generally equipped to a high standard. We loved that it’s on the coastal path and you can walk to Trebarwith strand - a fantastic beach (at low tide) for body boarding, cave exploring and also has a pub, shop and cafe. Minor negatives: - As the bedroom downstairs is en-suite, the 6 people upstairs share one bathroom. - There’s nowhere to dry washing or beach stuff when the weathers not nice. - Need more glasses in the kitchen as there’s only wine glasses or tiny water glasses. - We had an issue with a bed that was fixed temporarily, but then broke again so we just ended up fixing it ourselves for ease. - As mentioned in other reviews parking is limited, but that’s what you get when staying in a small Cornish village.
