About this property

Occupying a superb village location in the heart of Beer in Devon, is this charming mid-terraced cottage, Ivy Cottage. The perfect holiday home for a family or group travelling together, the cottage offers well-presented accommodation with a chilled-out ambience so guests get the relaxing holiday they want. The open-plan living space is warm and welcoming with a delightful sitting area complete with seating, large windows which let light flood in and a feature fireplace which all add up to create a really inviting vibe. The rustic kitchen has all the facilities needed to be able to produce whatever culinary offerings your holiday party requires with an elegant dining area providing a sociable space in which to gather and eat together. You can throw open the patio door and let the fresh Devon air in, sit outside in the attractive courtyard and enjoy some eating and drinking time alfresco. All that fresh holiday air is tiring so when bedtime calls take your pick from a king-size (with a TV so you don’t have miss your favourite telly programme even when you’re in bed!), a twin or a double; all are stylishly presented and offer a calming sanctuary after a hard day of holidaying. Following a refreshing night’s sleep, you can hop in the shower or have a soak in the bath, before taking coffee in the courtyard and planning the day’s activities. There is so much to explore in Devon it can be hard to know where to begin but the captivating village of Beer is a good place to start with some great shops and pubs right on the doorstep, a fabulous beach and Beer Quarry Caves and Beer Heights Light Railway a must-visit while you’re here. Jump in the car for some other attractions a little further away but with some enchanting views along the way such as Pecorama Gardens, Seaton Tramway, Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary and Crealy Adventure Park. Beaches worth packing a picnic for include Charmouth, West Bay, Torquay, Seatown and Weymouth. For a picture postcard holiday, book a visit to Ivy Cottage.

Beer is a small picturesque fishing village on the south Devon coast near Seaton. The shingle beach is very sheltered, backed by limestone cliffs and was once fertile smuggling territory, plus contraband was hidden in nearby caves, which are now a popular tourist attraction. Beer is situated on the stretch of Devon coastline, known as the Jurassic Coast, a designated World Heritage Site, and the village offers sloping streets lined with picturesque stone houses and cottages built on many different levels of the steep valley sides. There are a good range of shops, friendly cafes, restaurants and pubs in Beer, plus just outside the village is the popular Pecorama Gardens, which are perched on the hill overlooking Lyme Bay. Pecorama boasts the Beer Heights Light Railway and indoor model railway exhibition, along with a children's play area. Beer is a unique Devon fishing village and a great place to stay.

    Great location.

The only 2 things that let the place down slightly is 1. The back patio and furniture could do with a good sweep and hose down as it is quite dirty and looks like it has not been touched for sometime. And 2 is the top bedroom in the attic it’s got no ventilation and it gets very very hot it could do with the skylight being modified so it can open slightly just so the heat can escape. But apart from that the place itself is perfect and highly recommended and will be staying there again in October.

We did have 2 cars and we knew it would be a tight space but that didn't help. Also front door was very stiff to open and inner door didnt shut properly but probably expected with an old house.
