Constructed with locally sourced timber and employing local craftsmanship, The Retreat embodies eco-friendliness with solar-powered electricity, heat-exchange underfloor heating, and its own spring water supply. Waste is efficiently managed through composting, complemented by two beehives in the vegetable garden. Natural cleaning products further contribute to the property’s sustainability.
The Retreat comprises two thoughtfully designed bedrooms catering to diverse needs. The master bedroom boasts an en-suite wet room, balcony doors opening to a decked area overlooking the valley, and ample storage. The twin bedded room features an en-suite shower room. Both bathrooms include various accessible features, such as wall-mounted shower seats and commode shower seats on wheels. Hoists and articulating beds are available for hire if needed. We had an enjoyable stay at rockenhayne farmstead, despite the weather, the area is quiet and peaceful but within easy reach of places to visit. The cottage is well equipped for those with limited mobility and we would thoroughly recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a quiet but enjoyable break.

One of the best places we have stayed. On arrival, we were met with a plate of fresh, homemade scones with jam and cream. Just what we needed after a long journey! Set at the end of a mile long track (might be a bit tricky for low cars), The Retreat was amazingly peaceful. We couldn't hear any noise from traffic whatsoever - just the sounds of nature. The cottage is spacious and well equipped and had everything we needed. There has clearly been a great deal of thought gone in to making it suitable for anyone with mobility issues but, though we don't need these facilities, it was lovely staying in a bright, light-filled place with wide doorways, no clutter, and a feeling of space - all on one level. The walks through the woods with the dogs each morning were wonderful and showed us just how lucky the owner is to live in such a place. We would love to return and would not hesitate to recommend The Retreat.

Beautiful location, very quiet and a great place to get away from the it all. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and will definitley be back.
