Exmoor is also a designated International Dark Sky Reserve, so you can look up and see stars shining especially brightly on cloudless nights. A trip to Knightshayes Court (7 miles) is also a great day out – this 19th-century house, owned by the National Trust, is full of quirks and curiosities and set within acres of glorious gardens and parkland.
