On arrival the lodge smelt damp and didn’t feel or appear clean, I was glad I brought cleaning products as I had to clean the cabin a wipe over and spray everywhere, not how I wanted to start my holiday. Cupboards dirty and kitchen utensils etc weren’t clean, neither the cooker so we ate our daily. The bedding also smelt damp, the bed was however comfy and had a lovely view from the window. The place is tucked away and isolated. There is a good size field for dogs and a bbq area. The site isn’t manned, keys are on the door. It was a shame the exmoor cabin didn’t have a flat area outside for out sun loungers. Location however was great, 20 minutes from Woolacombe beach, 10 minutes from Ilfracombe a lovely town with a costal walk to the harbour, 10 minutes from Martin Combe with a trail to Little Hangman and into Great Hangman the largest costal cliff in the UK, the views were magnificent. We were lucky there was a lot to do so we didn’t need to stay in the cabin much. If the cabins were better value for money it would be worth it, even just to feel like the environment is clean and smells nice.
