Old Dairy is a charming and tranquil cottage retreat, praised for its beautiful rural setting, cosy log burner, and exceptionally welcoming hosts. Guests consistently highlight the peaceful atmosphere, cleanliness, and thoughtful touches such as welcome packs. The property is ideal for a relaxing break, with lovely walks and wildlife nearby. While the narrow access lanes and an ageing mattress were minor drawbacks for some, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it a highly recommended getaway.
Multiple reviews mention the cottage being extremely clean and well-presented, with no negative comments regarding cleanliness.
The rural, peaceful location is widely appreciated, though several guests note the narrow access lanes as a minor challenge.
Guests found the cottage cosy and relaxing, especially enjoying the log burner. One review mentioned the mattress needing replacement, but overall comfort was rated highly.
The cottage is well-equipped for self-catering, with features like a secure courtyard for dogs and a log burner. Facilities are praised, though one mention of the mattress suggests some room for improvement.
Guests frequently mention generous welcome packs with local produce, homemade bread, and scones. While these thoughtful touches are highly appreciated, please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

The Park Mill Farm cottages are situated in a magical riverside setting, less than a mile from Chulmleigh centre, with 20 acres of lush fields, woods and parkland where you are free to roam along with the abundant wildlife. From the viewing area on top of the hill with a bench, to the river and lakeside areas, there is plenty to explore.
Chulmleigh is a Saxon hilltop village made up of thatched cottages, traditional pubs and a small collection of independent shops. There is a children’s play park, and dining options consist of three pubs in the town, a cosmopolitan restaurant and an Indian restaurant/takeaway.
Chulmleigh town centre is now a conservation area and the rich grassland found here is home to the largest population of otters in any natural area in England. The area provides access to an abundance of leisure activities including walking, cycling, fishing, golf and horse riding along with several historic houses and gardens in the vicinity.
Guests can enjoy the best of coast and country with Dartmoor and Exmoor nearby, as well as the North Devon coast in one direction and the cathedral city of Exeter in the other, all within an hour’s drive.
Sauna and Cold plunge. A complimentary 45-minute Sauna and cold plunge session is included in your stay. Relax in the Sauna brave the cold plunge or combine the two for an exhilarating experience.
Fishing at Park Mill Farm - "This is an accommodating little river in a lovely Devon valley where time does seem to stand still." Mike Weaver, Trout And Salmon magazine, Feb. 2009.
There are two rivers (The Little Dart and Huntacott) meandering through the grounds and a private fishing lake where guests can enjoy free fly and coarse fishing and catch carp, rudd, chub, roach, brown trout and tench. There is also complimentary fishing on both rivers where brown trout, sea trout and salmon can be caught together with coarse fish.

What a beautiful cottage! We had such a lovely time, and the log burner was really nice and heated up the space really well.We love a rural location and this was lovely and remote. There is a local shop just a few minutes drive away for essentials. With a baby due soon, and a well needed break away after Christmas, it was the perfect little weekend away.Thank you for the bread, milk, eggs and scones as well 😊 they were a really nice touch.Would definitely recommend.
