Lynmouth is a beautiful coastal village on the northern edge of Exmoor. The village straddles the confluence of the West Lyn and East Lyn rivers and is located in a gorge 700 feet below the equally lovely twin town of Lynton which is also known as ‘Little Switzerland’. Both Lynton and Lynmouth are in an area of incomparable beauty within Exmoor National Park. Sweeping hills and valleys nestle between both and spectacular cliffs surround the area. Rivers wind their way through deeply wooded valleys on their way to the sea, occasionally interrupted by tumbling waterfalls. The remarkable Valley of the Rocks, which is a must see, is a dry valley that runs parallel to the coast and is just over a mile to the west of Lynton above. It is a popular tourist destination noted for its herd of feral goats and for its landscape and geology. There’s a Victorian fishing lodge at Watersmeet which is now run by the National Trust and the area which has dramatic waterfalls is worth a visit. Inland there are numerous walks through the rugged scenery of the National Park with over 600 miles of marked footpaths! Exmoor itself has abundant wildlife, including ponies, sheep and red deer that graze the open moorland and overhead you might see falcons, buzzards and even the rare merlin. The surrounding coastline and countryside boast some of the most spectacular and awe-inspiring sea and hillside views you can find! There are some amazing walks that can be taken directly from the property and local restaurants, pubs, cafés, tea rooms and various craft, boutique, novelty and antique shops are all within easy reach.
Lynton also boasts one of the most characterful town hall buildings you’ll find anywhere showing the best of the Tudor Revival style and then there’s the local cinema in a former Grade II Listed chapel where you can relax and take in a movie! Lynmouth with its riverside walks, harbourside pubs, restaurants and large manor green overlooking the sea is linked by road, footpath and by the famous Victorian funicular cliff railway which opened in 1890 and is the highest and steepest totally water powered railway in the world! The location offers an ideal base to relax, enjoy invigorating outdoor pursuits or visit many famous beauty spots in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and not to forget the magical night skies in Europe’s first ‘Dark Sky Reserve’. Although Lynmouth has its own beach, further afield there are some of the best beaches in the UK to discover like Saunton Sands, Woolacombe, Westward Ho! and Croyde which are all easily reached by car and highly recommended.
These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 5 guests.

5* Perfect in every way!If you are thinking about booking I would not hesitate in wholeheartedly recommending! You will not be disappointed. The Loft is immaculate and pristinely clean. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was nice and powerful with no limit to hot water. I also really enjoyed a soak in the large bath after a days hike. There is plenty of space for all your stuff (and we had a lot!) and the Loft feels very light and airy. It was pretty hot when we were there but it kept quite cool. We had the bedroom and lounge windows open which kept the air moving through and it never felt stuffy. There was heating of course for the colder months. The lounge was spacious and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen containing everything you may need including washing machine, dishwasher and full sized fridge freezer.Linda and Nick were really helpful and friendly. On hand if you needed anything but unobtrusive. I thought Linda went the extra mile with her welcome gifts and attention to detail. Especially when replenishing towels etc after our first week. The private parking space is a godsend and quite rare in Lynmouth. We were a bit dubious at first about how far away it was and if it was secure but it is literally 2 mins walk. It’s not in the main carpark but in a private parking area to the side of this, clearly reserved for Loft Parking. We had no issues at all with anyone else using it and we went out most days.We loved staying in Lynmouth. It’s a really great place with some fantastic walks from your doorstep. It has so many places to eat and drink you are spoilt for choice. We tried as many as we could. Fish and chips, pasties, ice cream, crab and lobster sandwiches, cream teas…….. no wonder my waistband is too tight now!The Fox and Goose at Parracombe is well worth a visit as it the community cafe and Farmshop. Further afield is The Chichester Arms in Morthoe and South Street Food in Woolacombe for their Lobster Roll, Fried Chicken and friendly service. There are so many wonderful places to visit nearby. Don’t be put off by the roads coming in to Lynmouth. They are really not that bad. The drive up Porlock hill from Porlock onto the Exmouth moors is stunning. The views take your breath away. Coming into Lynmouth via Countisbury Hill is a bit steep but nothing to worry about. The same goes for coming into Lynmouth via Barbrook. We had the best holiday. It helped that the weather was good but The Loft was perfect for coming back to and relaxing after a busy day. Superb!! I cannot recommend it highly enough!Linda and Nick - Thank you so much again! We hope to be back! 😁

Lovely, lovely, lovely. Stayed here for a week in March (2026). Extremely clean and well presented. Linda and Nick have thought of everything to make this a home from home. With a very well equipped kitchen, The Loft comes with lots of little extras that make all the difference. Lovely location within Lynmouth, only seconds away from the path to Watersmeet (a "must-do"), and if you're feeling energetic you can carry on to Rockford. A minutes walk from the sea front, this is a perfect getaway location. The fact that this apartment comes with it's own parking space is a huge bonus.
