Driftwood is a fantastic five star, four-bedroom duplex apartment perfect for up to eight guests and set in a re-developed building directly overlooking the Atlantic Ocean with two other luxury apartments that can be jointly booked by larger groups if required. There’s a communal entrance with one other apartment and then a flight of stairs up to the entrance.

The luxury accommodation comprises an open plan living/kitchen/dining area with patio doors leading out on to a large balcony where you can sit and enjoy the incredible views with a drink in hand – the sunsets are truly wonderful! The living area has quality furniture and a Smart TV, and the kitchen area is very well equipped with everything you’ll need for your stay. On the same floor, there are three bedrooms; a twin and two kingsize rooms, one with a Smart TV and an en-suite shower room. There’s also a family bathroom with a shower over bath. You’ll also find a handy utility/storage cupboard with a washing machine in it. Then there’s the Driftwood’s jewel in the crown – a fantastic second floor bedroom suite with a centrally located kingsize bed from where you can lay back and either watch a movie on the wall-mounted Smart TV, or enjoy those sea views. For an even clearer view over the ocean, you can open up the ingenious velux ‘balcony’ windows and stand there in awe! The suite has its own en-suite shower room and also a walk-in wardrobe. Pure luxury relaxation awaits you here! Outside there are two allocated parking spaces with additional parking available in the village public car park just ½ mile away.

The village of Woolacombe which is just below Mortehoe boasts 3 miles of golden sands, great surfing waves and a fantastic coastal footpath. There are shops, cafés, restaurants and a great boutique cinema in a local hotel too, all just a 10-minute stroll away! The main beach is patrolled by lifeguards in the summer, and you can make the most of the location for its beautiful sunsets, one of the spectacles regularly enjoyed by locals and surfers out on their boards in the Atlantic waters. Voted in 2020 Number 6 in Europe and Number 20 in the world, Woolacombe Beach is one of the best in the UK and is renowned for its cleanliness and water quality.

Should you choose to venture away from this stunning location, Woolacombe is perfectly positioned for exploring the truly awe-inspiring North Devon coastline and all its beauty and to enjoy the countless other North Devon attractions such as the popular Tarka Trail which provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and scenery stretching from Barnstaple through to Bideford and beyond. Then there’s Exmoor National Park with its magical night skies in Europe’s first Dark Sky Reserve, just 13 miles away and Lynton and Lynmouth, 20 miles to the east with its incredible sea views, rugged cliffs and amazing funicular cliff railway which opened in 1890 and is the highest and steepest totally water powered railway in the world! Of course, if Woolacombe isn’t enough for you, then there are several other world class beaches such as Saunton Sands, Croyde and Westward Ho! – all of which are famous for their surfing qualities, vast stretches of sand and great dunes! Keen golfer? Then look no further than the championship links golf course at Saunton, just 7 miles away. Beach 1 mile.

    The apartment was in a great position. Sadly the standard of equipment inside no coffee machine, no teapot and no bread bin. Nothing to clean loos etc with. It all felt a bit basic for a higher end apartment. We stayed 2 weeks no offer of cleaning after first week or clean sheets. I did have clean sheets only after asking Simon who was very helpful. Be great to have info on how to work washing machine!

    Great location with lovely views and walking distance to beaches (within 10 minutes) and Woolacombe (15-20 minutes). The apartment suited our needs as a family and gave us a great base and place to relax in. A few minor improvements would have made it a little easier (mostly on a practical level). There is a washing machine but the drier didn’t work and there was nowhere to hang towels or wet clothes so a small airer to put up or some fixed rails on the balcony would have helped. No coffee machine or cafetière- relatively minor but would expect for the price of the property. No battery in one of remotes and the WiFi code in the apartment is incorrect so had to contact them to get correct one (again not an issue as they were very responsive but why not have the correct code in the first place). All in all we had a brilliant week and would recommend this place.
