Standing in 17 acres of working farmland, accessed by a steep country lane, this self-contained holiday cottage forms half of this extremely large Victorian farmhouse. The owner, who resides in the other half, offer a warm welcome. This holiday cottage has ⅓-acre gardens and patio to the side of the house, giving plenty of space in which to relax or for the children to play. In addition, there is now an additional pretty garden area to the rear of property exclusive to visitors and easily visible from kitchen and some bedroom windows. This provides an additional large seating area and table with fire pit/BBQ looking out over field and hills beyond. Set within open countryside, offering lovely walks, fishing and plenty of opportunities to see the varied wildlife.
The interesting market town of South Molton, with its honey farm, is 2 miles. This is a good location to explore the North Devon coasts. Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks, and sandy beaches can be found within 20 miles. Squash, tennis and golf are available in Chittlehamholt. Many breathtaking gardens to visit close by. A trip to Ilfracombe will delight the discerning visitor, where there is variety of activities available, and a pretty harbour and small beach on which to bathe. Alternatively, Barnstaple offers a range of pubs, shops, restaurants and a leisure centre. Pub ¼ mile.

We arrived and walked into the house and the smell of an old damp house was overwhelming !! Not only that it was cold and the temp was controlled by the house next door !! We arrange for the radiators to be switched he’s on but didn’t realise everything including the gas to the stove heater in the front room went off at 11 pm !! They said it had WiFi but the download was 1.5 and the load was 0.5 !!! Disgusting . The whole place was filthy and needed a complete re-decorating programme and a complete deep clean !! The towels were small and smelt musty and unclean . In the advert they said as a dog owner there was access to a garden and small enclosed are but what they didn’t say was you had to walk through a communal area to get to them !!!! They said there was a local pub but this closed down two years ago .Worst experience we have ever had it was like the house of horrors !!!

We had a very pleasant stay, the accommodation meet all our needs, very comfortable and homely with a few quirks. The location was quite if a little difficult to get to (up a step narrow road). The only issues we had was the WIFI which we had difficulty connecting to and when connected only 0.4-1.8 mbs download speed not sufficient to stream of for more than one device to work, that said Vodafone EE and O2 had good signals so we were able to use mobile data. The second issue was the property was listed as having a pub within 1 mile (in the description it says 0.4 miles) the pub in question closed in August 2024. Despite the issues if/when we are looking for somewhere to stay in the Exmoor/Dartmoor area of Devan we would happily stay at The Conifers again.

Nice large property for a family holiday. Lady who met us friendly and made sure we were happy throughout the week. Children loved the garden in front of the house.Downstairs bedroom had a damp smell but might not have been used for a while. Enjoyed our stay.
