Skippers Hill Cottage, a charming, spacious detached cottage, is tucked on the side of a very peaceful valley in the tiny hamlet of Waterhead, enjoys fine country views and is a ten minute walk from the beautiful Avon estuary that meanders on to the wide expanses of the golden sands at Bantham and Bigbury on Sea, possibly the finest beaches in the South Hams. Close to the village of Aveton Gifford, with a good pub and village shop, this recently refurbished cottage with its beamed ceilings and comfortable ambience is ideal for cosy evenings around the wood burner or summer days walking the many footpaths, enjoying the wildlife of the Avon estuary or lazing on the beautiful beaches nearby. Whatever the time of year, this is an ideal holiday cottage.
Accommodation:
Stable door into spacious living room, comfortably furnished with a rug on the polished wood floor, sofa, three chairs, TV, DVD and a wood burner housed in a low inglenook fireplace. Dining room with table to seat 6, feature fireplace (not operative), tiled floor with rug and adjacent small cloakroom with WC and hand basin. The smart and spacious kitchen is very well equipped with new fitted units, induction hob, integral eye level oven and combination microwave/grill/second oven, radio, dishwasher and farmhouse table to seat 6. An electric Aga is housed in a feature alcove (only available for use from the beginning of October to the end of March - please state at time of booking if required). Two steps up to utility area with large fridge/freezer, washing machine, storage cupboards and sink. Access from here to covered parking area and further access to path at the rear of the cottage. Upstairs: Spacious double bedroom with 5ft king size wrought iron bedstead, fitted wardrobes and country views. Handsome tiled bathroom with bath, basin, WC and large separate shower. Single bedroom with 3ft single bed. Large twin bedroom with 3ft single beds, further put-you-up bed and fitted cupboards (there is ample room for the extra bed or it can be used in the small bedroom).
Outside:
The cottage sits alongside a very quiet, little used, country lane. Across the lane is the lower garden which is gated and enclosed with a lawn, shrubs, vegetable garden and provided with garden furniture. At the rear of the cottage a path leads to railed steps (steep) and rise to an enclosed landscaped garden that enjoys attractive views and is fitted with a fine deck area provided with garden furniture.
Parking: There is a covered parking space beside the cottage and further area alongside for one car.
