Guests say

The Retreat in Dartmouth offers a well-equipped holiday home with a prime location close to town amenities. Guests appreciate the property's convenience and the sunny terrace, though some maintenance issues and cleanliness in certain areas have been noted.

Reviews indicate a general satisfaction with cleanliness, but several guests have reported the need for a deeper clean, particularly in less frequently cleaned corners, and issues such as a mouldy shower curtain. The property appears tidy but could benefit from more thorough attention.

The location is highly praised for its proximity to the town centre and waterfront, making it an ideal base for exploring Dartmouth. Parking challenges are noted, but the central location compensates for this inconvenience.

Guests find the beds comfortable and the property cosy, though some have mentioned steep stairs and a persistent smell in certain areas. The top floor can be warm, and the outdoor furniture could be updated for enhanced comfort.

The Retreat is equipped for a holiday stay, with a well-received terrace and kitchen. However, guests have reported several maintenance issues such as a broken washing machine, fridge, and cooker hood, as well as the need for better upkeep of the outdoor decking.

There is insufficient information regarding thoughtful touches or gifts provided by the host, as the reviews do not mention any such details. Therefore, it cannot be determined if guests have experienced any special considerations that would indicate thoughtfulness.

A few pointers from us during our stay; The top room was really tough to get up to and 2 of the guests couldn’t safely get up It was also very warm up there with the heat we had so I slept downstairs for the majority of the stay. The outside area was bigger than we though which was good but the furniture was pretty dated and had lots of bird poo all over it we tried to clean some of it The railing on right and you walk up to the top terrace was very wobbly and unstable so I think it might need replacing Shower was stronger than I though so that was good Kitchen was good for th size only thing was there was no salt and pepper or white sugar and although there was a dishwasher no tablets provided (would have bought some if known) Also the tassimo was a great addition but again no pods provided so didn’t use We did have a lovely break and the weather was lovely. Some local business leaflets wood have been nice to add we found a lovely thing called Fizz boat on Facebook we would recommend

Great location ,smallish but well equiped, clean enough, only downside was the steep stairs to the third floor bedroom (master)which for anyone with mobility issues would be a struggle ,think this should be mentioned in the listing ,daytime parking in Dartmouth is a struggle as there is no long stay car park so if you want to wine and dine during the day its impossible as your having to move the car every couple of hours ,evening parking is great if you can find a spot as its free after 6pm until 9am, obviously this is not down to the host but the council, would come again but be aware of the stairs and parking

The house is nicely decorated and is equipped with everything we needed. The outside decked garden is a lovely bonus especially for the dogs. Parking in Dartmouth is not good but the fact that we could unload and load outside was definitely a bonus. Overall a lovely house and would definitely book again.
