We stayed for a week July '26. The property is lovely, bigger than the photos suggest, clean and tidy and really well thought out, with everything you would need. It does have a downside with being next to the pub, the Aircon unit (poorly placed) right next to the bedroom window is a slight annoyance and due to that and the cooking smells we kept the windows on that side closed. That said, the description doesn't hide this and the price reflects the inconvenience, although we would have been happy with the apartment even at slightly increased cost. We found parking at the marina car park to have plenty of parking spots the majority of the day, and although it isn't recommended to drive up to the door, you can stop at the bottom of the (short road) to drop off bags. The ferry choices are many and regular across the river, £2.50 each for the passenger and lower ferries, or a little walk up to the higher ferry gets you across to Dartmouth for just £1 each. If you want to stay Kingswear side both the pubs are well worth a visit, and a very short stroll back home! All in all we would definitely recommend Captains Lockyer 😁

Clean and well equipped with easy access to Dartmouth and the lovely cleaner was very helpful with a drainage issue on arrival. However, we had to leave a day early due to sleep quality being affected by the very loud unit outside the window turning on intermittently. I would not recommend unless able to sleep easily through noise disturbance.

I enjoyed my stay at the apartment and overall found it comfortable and of a good standard. It is close to 2 decent pubs on the Kingswear side of the River Dart, the Ship Inn staff were very welcoming. My advice to Caroline (the owner) would be to upgrade the quality of the mattress on the double bed. It was both too thin and soft and would greatly benefit from being a firmer, more supportive mattress.Parking is a bit of a problem as there is no parking at the apartment and the road up to it (which is on an incline) is not suitable to drive up to drop off and collect luggage. We had to park at bottom of the road temporarily and walk up with ours. Our car was parked in the car park at the lower ferry for a week (£51) . As we visited in November we found a spot in the car park without a problem. However, in the summer weeks I am sure this will not be the case!I visit Kingswear every year in November for a week and despite the issues I have mentioned, I would certainly stay at Captains Lockyer again, probably. Hopefully, my points will help the owner and future holidaymakers going forwards.
