I enjoyed my stay at the apartment and overall found it comfortable and of a good standard. It is close to 2 decent pubs on the Kingswear side of the River Dart, the Ship Inn staff were very welcoming. My advice to Caroline (the owner) would be to upgrade the quality of the mattress on the double bed. It was both too thin and soft and would greatly benefit from being a firmer, more supportive mattress.Parking is a bit of a problem as there is no parking at the apartment and the road up to it (which is on an incline) is not suitable to drive up to drop off and collect luggage. We had to park at bottom of the road temporarily and walk up with ours. Our car was parked in the car park at the lower ferry for a week (£51) . As we visited in November we found a spot in the car park without a problem. However, in the summer weeks I am sure this will not be the case!I visit Kingswear every year in November for a week and despite the issues I have mentioned, I would certainly stay at Captains Lockyer again, probably. Hopefully, my points will help the owner and future holidaymakers going forwards.

We spent a week in Captain's Lockyer and really enjoyed our time there. The flat is clean, tidy, warm, fully equipped and very comfortable. We travelled by public transport, using ferries and buses for trips to Dartmouth, Brixham and Paignton and had two lovely walks to Greenway and Coleton Fishacre. The Petite Pantry and general store are very convenient for supplies and there are several places to eat within yards of the flat, including the Ebb and Flow coffee bar, The Steam Packet pub and an excellent fish and chip kiosk, only open on Fridays.

A great cottage, well appointed and easy to find. Communication was good. Only reason for 4 and not 5 stars is that it is sited over the Steam Ship pub and has the pub air-conditioning unit almost outside the bedroom window. Pub was noisy till closing time and the pub aircon intrusive when running.
