About this property

East Prawle 4.7 miles. The Old Forge is a charming annex in Bickerton, Devon, enjoying countryside views, off-road parking and a location close to the coast. Ideally suited to couples seeking a seaside escape with easy access to Devon’s beautiful landscapes, this single-storey retreat combines inviting living spaces with outdoor areas designed for making the most of the surroundings. Step inside and discover a thoughtfully arranged interior where shared moments come naturally. The living and dining room forms the heart of the property, with a woodburning stove casting a warm glow as you settle in with a favourite film on the TV or linger over plans for the days ahead.

Nearby, the kitchen is equipped with everything needed for preparing leisurely breakfasts before setting out or relaxed evening meals after time spent exploring the shoreline and countryside. The king-size bedroom offers an attractive space to unwind at the end of the day, while the contemporary shower room with walk-in shower provides a refreshing place to begin each morning. Outside, the multi-level garden invites you to spend more time in the fresh air. Move between the lawn and patio areas, dine outdoors with the barbecue sizzling away, or simply admire the surrounding views with a drink in hand as daylight shifts across the landscape.

A short journey brings you to Sidmouth, where elegant seafront walks, Connaught Gardens and the striking Jurassic Coast create memorable days beside the sea. Budleigh Salterton offers a charming coastal atmosphere, with its pebble beach, the Otter Estuary Nature Reserve and Fairlynch Museum providing plenty to discover together. For a wider variety of attractions, head to Exmouth and explore the expansive beach, the scenic Exe Estuary Trail and the distinctive National Trust property of A la Ronde. Whether you're drawn to coast, countryside or a little of both, The Old Forge makes a wonderful base from which to experience this captivating corner of Devon.

Hallsands is a small village near Start Point, one of the most southerly points on Devon’s coastline, near Salcombe in the beautiful South Hams area. The sheltered South Hams Peninsula is in 'deepest Devon', a pastoral landscape of flowering hedgerows and ancient sunken lanes, carved into by the richly wooded Avon and Dart Valleys. This quiet fishing village, with its dog-friendly, unspoilt beach, is situated next to the historic ‘old village’ of South Hallsands, just three miles from the popular Beesands Beach which has its own gastro pub and shop. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is decorated with white, pink and ochre thatched cottages, picturesque fishing ports such as Dartmouth, and is renowned for its stunning coastline, popular with yachting enthusiasts. Much of the clifftop land has been acquired by the National Trust, a haven for bird watchers and walkers who take advantage of the South West Coast Path, peppered with perfect picnic spots. Nearby, uncover the beauty of Blackpool Sands and Torcross, a historic site where the Normandy landings were practiced; explore the nature reserve at Slapton Ley, and stroll along Slapton Beach, feeling the soft sand between your toes. Park at East Portlemouth and catch the ferry across to the beautiful seaside town of Salcombe with its renowned estuary, or visit the Start Point Lighthouse, less than a mile away. Hallsands is a wonderful base for uncovering the unspoilt beauty of Devon and the South Hams, all year round.
