INNISFREE is a spacious and well-located cottage in Salcombe, ideal for large family groups. Guests appreciated the generous living areas, ample parking, and proximity to beaches, shops, and restaurants. The garden and outdoor seating were popular with both adults and children. While some areas would benefit from refurbishment and a deeper clean, the property was generally comfortable and well-equipped, making it a great base for exploring Salcombe.

Part of a substantial Victorian detached property arranged on three floors and located just a few minutes walk from Salcombe’s town centre, shops and quays. The house, which has recently been tastefully refurbished, has good water and country views from the living Room, some bedrooms and outside areas and offers well equipped, spacious, family accommodation. The living room has a feature marble fireplace and the dining room has a feature stone fireplace.

Our three generation 10 person family group have just spent a week a very enjoyable week staying in Innisfree, beginning of August 2026. The house is located about a 10 minute walk steeply downhill to the town centre. Take the first stepped lane on the right to emerge next to Salcombe Sailing Club. Turn left to reach the town centre and the ferries. Alternatively carry on down Devon Road for 5 minutes to reach an excellent play park. Innisfree is spacious downstairs with large lounge, dining room with table easily accommodating 10 people, decent sized kitchen with another small table and small breakfast bar. Root around in the cupboards to locate a plethora of pots, pans, dishes etc etc. Washing machine and tumble dryer in utility room at far end of kitchen and this leads onto further room with large sink, toilet and shower. Bedrooms, family bathroom and showers spread over first and second floor. Stairs up to second floor are quite steep, but no obstacle to 7 year old twins and their parents. Some of the windows are either reluctant to open and / or stay open, but enough do to not be a problem. In one of the upper bedrooms the (only) skylight window only opened about an inch and the blind would not open. Not sure whether this was deliberate or needs attention. It didn't bother the two children who slept there, although it would have bothered me - 74 year old who likes a decent amount of fresh air. Towels in holiday homes do vary, but these were excellent. Outside there is a patio/garden area with table and plenty of seats. Garden is not huge but if you are out all day, who's bothered. Good parking for 4 cars. Extensive views down to the water and boats. We spent every day bar one on one or other of Salcombe's beaches. Everyone agreed it was great not having to use the cars. If you have a wet or non beach day, we would recommend Woodlands Family Theme Park near Dartmouth. Good value and a great variety for all ages.

Although my ratings are not high this was a good house for our familyThe hill climb is tough with 4 small childrenThe house would benefit from refurbishment and. Although surface clean it needs a spring clean carpets and cushions etcThe knives were very poor and wouldn’t cutIf you ask would we go again the answer would be a yes as it offers plenty of space and the children loved the garden as did the adults eating out each nightSalcombe is still the best place in the world.

We, as a large family group loved this house. Beaches, shops, bars, restaurants all only a few minutes walk. It felt like home. The only drawback was the lack of adequate rubbish and recycling bins, which hopefully will be rectified, as the house was generally clean, comfortable and well equipped. It also had plenty of seating for all, inside and out and was spacious.
