Stable Cottage is tucked beneath the ancient 11th century walls of Totnes Castle in the heart of this fascinating medieval Devon town, a very special and unique market town on the river Dart in the heart of beautiful South Devon, steeped with history, charm and boasting countless attractions for the modern day tourist. An eclectic mix of traditional market town with a flamboyant bohemian twist, the enticing narrow streets are filled with unusual independent shops, restaurants and cafes including organic and specialist food suppliers for which the town is renowned. Just down the road is Dartington Hall, where a major event in the national literary calendar takes place (Way with Words) in the stunning surrounds of the estate during July. In July and August musicians and composers from all over the world flock to Dartington for the opportunity to immerse themselves in their art. Courses for all ages and abilities are on offer and a full concert programme. Stable Cottage provides a very comfortable and attractively furnished base from which to experience this unusual and interesting town and area, with its own train station served directly from London Paddington. You can visit places of interest including riverside villages of Tuckenhay and Dittisham, the yachting ports of Dartmouth and Salcombe and wonderful beaches and coves. For walkers the South West Coastal Path and Dartmoor are within easy reach.

Accommodation:

Front door to porch area with hanging hooks. Attractive and comfortable sitting room with two sofas, two armchairs, wood burner, Freeview TV with DVD. This room extends into the newly fitted kitchen area with table to seat 6, integral fridge/freezer, oak work tops, ceramic hob, built-under oven, integral microwave and washer/dryer. First floor upstairs: Most attractive double bedroom, 5ft bed and fitted cupboards. Adjacent family bathroom with bath, shower over, basin and WC. Pretty single bedroom with 3ft boat bed, fitted cupboard and open plan stairs to the second floor. Top floor: Spacious attic twin bedroom with two antique 3ft sleigh beds, desk and wall mounted feature model ships and large window with superb views to Totnes Castle.

Outside:

The cottage fronts onto a quiet narrow lane, Castle Street. A few steps from the cottage a path leads up to the Castle and precincts that include large tree lined lawns with benches, an ideal spot for picnics or a glass of wine.

Parking:

Public car park 100 yards with permit supplied with £50 security deposit payable to owner.
