The Old Post Office in Devon is a well-liked cottage, praised for its comfort, quietness, and convenient location close to beaches and footpaths. Guests appreciate the cosy atmosphere and the property's suitability for both families and adults. The local pub and attractions add to the charm of the stay.
Most guests found the cottage to be comfortable and in good order, though there were some concerns about dust and the need for a deep clean. One review mentioned a significant cleanliness issue, but this seems to be an isolated incident rather than the norm.
The location is highly praised for its proximity to beaches, lovely footpaths, and local amenities. The village setting and easy access to South West Coastal Path are frequently mentioned as highlights.
Guests generally regard the cottage as cosy and comfortable, with sufficient space for families and groups. The addition of a new shower was welcomed, although there were suggestions for updating the settees and some concerns about the vacuum cleaner's storage.
The facilities are deemed appropriate for a holiday stay, with a well-received new shower and good WiFi. However, there are comments about the need for better kitchen utensils, a functioning dishwasher, and more food storage space. Maintenance issues like peeling paint and a damaged step were also noted.
While some guests mentioned a welcome pack and the caretaker's responsiveness, there is insufficient information to assess the consistency of thoughtful gestures such as gifts. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that such amenities will be provided for every stay.
This semi-detached Victorian cottage is one of a group of five creating a courtyard beside meadows on the fringes of Down Thomas. Light and comfy, it is homely and welcoming accommodation. Take the steps up to the front door and you will find yourself in the lovely open plan living area, complete with a well equipped kitchen area with breakfast bar for morning coffee and the paper, a dining table and comfy seats beside the cosy living flame gas fire. The downstairs bathroom is neat and shiny in white and chrome. Head upstairs to your three bedrooms, all peaceful and charming for good nights' sleeps after days exploring the interesting surroundings, plus a shower room.
To the front of the cottage you have a little seating area with table and chairs or follow the path to your own lawn where you can fire up the barbecue for alfresco lunches and suppers. This is an excellent location for exploring city and coast, with the sandy beach at Bovisand Bay just a mile from the cottage and the Marine Conservation Centre at Wembury beach, where you can swim and explore the rock pools, not much further. For bright lights, you are just a few miles from the heart of the city of Plymouth where you can eat out, visit the National Marine Aquarium, discover the maritime history or catch a show at the theatre or cinema.
water sports enthusiasts will love the well equipped Mount Batten centre beside the marina or stick to dry land to walk the South West Coast Path or play golf along the clifftops. With all this on the doorstep, The Old Post Office is an excellent base for a fascinating break.
Surrounded by the rugged beauty of Dartmoor, the glorious countryside of the South Hams and the vibrant scenery of the South Devon coast, Plymouth offers the perfect mixture of maritime heritage and natural beauty in a vibrant city environment.

Bedrooms were lovely, loved the shutters on windows. As mentioned in previous reviews kitchen cupboards full so storage for food very limited. My only other niggle was there were not enough towels four four adults.
