Remarkable Boultons Barn with hot tub & opt sauna is a beautifully converted barn apartment resting on the outskirts of Bovey Tracey, Devon, adjacent to the owner's 15th-century thatched farmhouse. Occupying the ground floor of a traditional barn and surrounded by mature trees, this characterful retreat blends period charm with thoughtfully curated interiors, making it an excellent choice for couples or solo travellers seeking a memorable stay on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Step inside to discover a generously proportioned living/dining room where retro-inspired décor, quality furnishings and shelves lined with books create an inviting atmosphere. Relax on one of the sofas, settle into the period armchair or chaise longue, and spend evenings enjoying the TV, listening to vinyl records on the music player or planning the next day's adventures.
A dining table offers space for enjoying home-cooked meals together after days spent exploring Devon. The restored 1950s kitchen has been carefully designed to complement the character of the property and is equipped with everything needed for a self-catered stay, including an oven, hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee machine and ample cupboard space stocked with utensils. When sleep calls, retire to the king-size bedroom, inspired by the owner's travels and Victorian influences. Complete with a high-quality Simba Pro mattress, luxury bedding, generous storage, TV and glimpses across neighbouring fields, it provides a wonderful place to unwind. Adding a touch of individuality, a freestanding period bath sits within the bedroom itself, while a separate shower room with walk-in shower, basin and WC completes the accommodation.
Outside, a south-facing patio area provides a lovely setting for breakfast in the sunshine or an evening drink among the surrounding greenery. Guests can also enjoy the additional outdoor dining area with seating and a gas barbecue. The private hot tub, available throughout the year, overlooks the adjacent field and offers a fantastic way to relax beneath the Devon skies. For an additional charge, guests can also enjoy exclusive use of a private wood-fired sauna hut, adding an extra level of indulgence to their stay. Secure bike storage and washing facilities are available for those keen to explore the area on two wheels.
Guests will find a shop and pub within easy reach, while Bovey Tracey offers a selection of independent shops, cafés and local amenities. Known as the gateway to Dartmoor, the town is ideally positioned for discovering the national park's dramatic landscapes, tors and walking routes. Explore the nearby Wray Valley Trail, visit the renowned House of Marbles, or enjoy a day at Parke, a National Trust property with woodland walks and riverside scenery. Venture into Exeter to discover Exeter Cathedral, the Underground Passages and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, while the South Devon coast offers delightful days out at Teignmouth, Shaldon and Dawlish, each boasting beaches, coastal walks and attractive waterfront settings.
Whether you're seeking days of hiking, cycling, sightseeing or simply unwinding in the hot tub after an afternoon on Dartmoor, Remarkable Boultons Barn with hot tub & opt sauna provides a characterful base for experiencing the best of Devon.
Nestled in the valley of the River Bovey is this stunning little town known as "The Gateway to the Moor". Bovey Tracey got its name from the meandering river that flows through it, with 'Tracey' representing the family that were the lords of the manor after the Norman Conquest. It has a great history with heavy involvement in the English Civil War which resulted in the name of the town's pub "The Cromwell Arms" which serves real ale and good food. The history of the town can be discovered in the Heritage Centre, with the Dartmoor National Park Authority also nearby. Bovey Tracey offers a selection of shops and cafés along with the stunning Mill Marsh Park and the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery which offers guided tours. The town comes just outside of the Dartmoor National Park which provides seemingly endless walking and cycling paths along with incredible scenery. The market town of Newton Abbot sits nearby, offering a fantastic day out with charming buildings and a good range of amenities. The beautiful city of Exeter is also within driving distance, and if a day at the seaside is what you're after then take a trip to Teignmouth.
