The Hayloft is a lovely cottage converted from a former hayloft above stables, tucked away in the peaceful hamlet of Water, just 400 yards from the pub in the Devon village of Manaton on the edge of Dartmoor. Providing a relaxing countryside retreat for families and couples, this welcoming property enjoys a tranquil setting surrounded by Devon's beautiful landscapes. From the parking area beyond the owners' farmhouse, a gravelled path leads through a courtyard to the front door, opening into a spacious tiled hallway, ideal for storing walking boots and outdoor gear. Stairs lead up to the open-plan living space, where spectacular views stretch across the fields towards Black Hill.

At one end, the hand-built kitchen and dining area provide a sociable space for mealtimes, while the other end is home to comfortable leather sofas gathered around a wood-burning stove. The three bedrooms are tastefully furnished, each benefiting from its own en-suite facilities. The enclosed courtyard is the ideal spot to rest after a day exploring on the Moors. The Hayloft is a wonderful base for embracing the peace, freedom and natural beauty of Devon's countryside and moorland.

Lustleigh is a picture postcard village set on the deep wooded slopes of eastern Dartmoor and within Dartmoor National Park. With a pretty church, village shop and excellent pub along with lots of thatch cottages you can see why Lustleigh made it to the Telegraph's top villages.
