My son & I spent a week here with our dogs in mid October 2025. It was very cosy and welcoming, well laid out and in beautiful surroundings. The kitchen was well equipped & the sitting/dining areas comfortable & cosy. The heaters were easy to use & warmed the lodge quickly. Beds were comfortable (but could use some better pillows if I’m honest). It was a lovely place to spend a week away from everything. If you want to get away from the hustle & bustle of life for a while, it’s the ideal location. The private garden would have been lovely had we had better weather! The added extra of access to the nearby fishing lakes was great for walking the dogs & I’m sure is a fabulous option in warmer weather if you like fishing, but with plenty of places to sit, it would also suit bird/wildlife watching as well. On the day we left, we actually saw deer! The lack of WiFi was able to be overcome thanks to using phone ‘hotspot’ & all TVs are smart & with streaming capability. A DVD player & selection of DVDs are also provided & there were plenty of board games too.The only niggle was, getting to the site initially using the sat nav, having to navigate some very narrow, poorly maintained country lanes so I definitely recommend following the given directions from Bideford! Still winding country roads but they’re better maintained & with passing places. We will definitely be considering returning at a warmer & drier time of year!
