This detached, single-storey holiday lodge is situated in delightful countryside close to the Hartland Peninsula. There is an enclosed decking area which wraps around two sides of the lodge and a lake close by where guests can fish. The property is an ideal destination for a relaxing holiday or to explore the local countryside and coastline. There are beaches at Woolacombe and Sandy Bay, plus children’s attractions The Milky Way and The Big Sheep, within driving distance. The fishing village of Clovelly, with its steep cobbled streets, and the rugged coastline at Hartland Quay are well worth a visit. The local shop and pub are only 2½ miles away.
The path down to the property is narrow and can be muddy.

We had a great week at Hawthorne as a family, with our 3 year old and our dog. We found the lodge comfortable and it had everything we needed. We were aware there wasn’t WiFi or phone signal (which has its pros and cons!) so we planned ahead of our trip, booking tickets for attractions and downloading maps on our phones. The lodge had excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water. We liked the forest setting, the site was quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed the public footpath from the site for short dog walks. The local sites and scenery were stunning, our favourite thing to do was to get up early and go down to Sandymouth Beach for a swim and to explore the rock pools. We found Hawthorne to be excellent value for money, the lodge wasn’t 5 star but for what we paid in the school summer holidays it was brilliant. The lodge owner and onsite housekeeper were both friendly and helpful.
