Set within four acres of open meadow, with views stretching across neighbouring countryside towards the distant outline of Dartmoor, this beautiful shepherd’s hut offers something increasingly rare: true escape. Reached by a quaint pathway, lit in moonlight, here, you can step away from the noise, the notifications and the relentless pace of modern life, and return to something slower, softer and altogether more meaningful.
Mornings begin with birdsong instead of alarms, light spilling gently through the windows as mist lingers over the grass. Evenings are for firelight and long conversations, for watching the sky turn from blush to indigo as deer wander quietly from the adjoining woodland.
Inside, the hut is a cocoon of warmth and comfort. A woodburner casts a golden glow, underfloor heating keeps everything effortlessly cosy, and a deeply indulgent Hypnos mattress promises unhurried lie ins wrapped in stillness. The fully ensuite space also includes a hob, fridge, table and chairs, giving you everything you need for slow breakfasts, simple suppers and a bottle of something local shared beside the fire pit.
Beyond the field lie two and a half acres of untouched woodland, home to owls, bats and an abundance of wildlife that thrives in the hush of evening. With very little light pollution, nightfall reveals extraordinary star filled skies that feel vast and infinite.
Perfectly positioned between coast and country in stunning North Devon, you are just four miles from the historic port town of Bideford and eight miles from the cobbled harbour village of Clovelly. Westward Ho, with its mile and a half of golden sand and dramatic tides, is only three and a half miles away. The pretty villages of Appledore and Instow sit either side of the Torridge Estuary and are linked by a seasonal passenger ferry.
You are within walking distance of the South West Coast Path and a short drive from the one-hundred-and eighty-mile Tarka Trail, winding through unspoilt countryside and breathtaking shoreline.
Here, the world slows; leaving the world behind whilst you unwind.
